Wood Ducks (Aix Sponsa) ~ Florida

This year I decided to enter the annual Audubon Photography Awards contest. It was neat to see my photo of a mother and baby wood duck make the Top 100 selection out of roughly 9000 entries. This photo is from the same series.

The photo I submitted can be seen here.

Congrats to all the winners, and thanks for visiting!

"To such beings, such fugitive beings, their own nature and our anxiety fasten wings. And even when they are with us the look in their eyes seems to warn us that they are about to take flight. The proof of this beauty itself, that wings add is that often, for us, the same person is alternately winged and wingless. "

Thank you all for visits, faves and comments

Thanks for taking time to fave, comment and look at my work. I really appreciate.

Taking a break from fishing.

A sensible Hoverfly in the polytunnel this morning, taking shelter from the cooler windy conditions outside. If anyone knows what species this flower is it would be good to know. Martin planted seeds & they grew but he threw the packet away! They are quite tall & come in a variety of colours. They would make great cut flowers I'm sure as each one lasts ages HFDF!

Thanks [https://www.flickr.com/photos/57734089@N03/] for providing the name of the flowers - Zinnia

Unusually taking the road through the station and on to the crossover rather than round the back of the box, 68034 accelerates through Maryport running about a half hour early with the 3J11 Kingmoor-Kingmoor squirts, which comes via the coast on a Tuesday and Thursday (this week's Tuesday trip was cut short). 68007 is on the rear.

Lampposts and clutter removed.

this is still hard to do, but since I'm getting a little more used to it, I just love taking shots like this!
