As we were taking off from Martin State Airport, we had a nice view of Wilson Point there that sticks out towards the Chesapeake Bay. I marked on the photo where my Dad's house is located. Also marked some other features in the photo like downtown Baltimore, etc.
Just about all the homes there on the end of Wilson Point ended up with water in them when Hurricane Isabel came up the East Coast. You can see how easily that thin peninsula does not provide a lot of protection from water being blown in from across the large bay.

A testa rossa (redhead, and yes, even before Enzo coined the name there were testa rossas) absorbing a 1951 "bullet nosed" Studebaker, and not sure what to make of it! Her thoughts might be, "...weird, but maybe in a nice way, yes, weird! I kinda like it. I think!"
And I think that's how many would have felt about the late forties and early fifties Studebakers back then. The designs were met with a mixed reception and definitely a mixed audience of lovers, and haters, and probably little middle ground. The design of the late forties / early fifties Studebakers included both the Starlite Coupes and the later bullet nosed models, and they came from the pen of Robert Bourke. Bourke had started with Studebaker as part of the design team in 1940 earning $75 dollars a week. The team was led by Raymond Loewy during the 1940s, and Loewy had a talented team working on Studebaker designs, including Bourke, Vince Gardner and, Gordon Buehrig (who was responsible for the great-looking Cord models), and Virgil Exner, (Exner later went on to work for Chrysler Corp and was responsible for their "Forward Look" designs of the fifties and beyond)
One of the grasses on this snow covered frozen pond seems to be taking a bow as it celebrates a beautiful sunny afternoon with thoughts of warmer days ahead. :)
Polygala chamaebuxus (Shrubby milkwort) is a plant in the Polygalaceae or milkwort family. Its flowers are solitary or in pairs. The inner two sepals, the wings, are upright and white to yellow, sometimes pinkish or purple. The keel petals are bright yellow, aging to brownish-red or purple. It is native to the Alps and the mountains of west-central Europe.
This Northern flicker was seen in the Countrywood/Bancroft neighborhood of Walnut Creek, California.
