Wikipedia: The stump-tailed macaque (Macaca arctoides), also called the bear macaque, is a species of macaque native to South Asia and Southeast Asia. In India, it occurs south of the Brahmaputra River, in the northeastern part of the country. Its range in India extends from Assam and Meghalaya to eastern Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

It is primarily frugivorous, but eats many types of vegetation, such as seeds, leaves and roots, but also hunts freshwater crabs, frogs, bird eggs and insects.

It is distributed from northeastern India and southern China into the northwest tip of West Malaysia on the Malay Peninsula. It is also found in Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. It is possibly extinct in Bangladesh. No global population estimate is available. In Cambodia, a declining population of 230 is reported from Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary.

Conservation status: Vulnerable

It was nice of this Hawk to turn the red tail where the sun hit it.

The white-tailed eagle is the largest UK bird of prey. It has brown body plumage with a conspicuously pale head and neck which can be almost white in older birds, and the tail feathers of adults are white. In flight it has massive long, broad wings with 'fingered' ends. Its head protrudes and it has a short, wedge-shaped tail.

This Schedule 1 species went extinct in the UK during the early 20th century, due to illegal killing, and the present population is descended from reintroduced birds.

What they eat:

White-tailed eagles are versatile and opportunistic hunters and carrion feeders, sometimes pirating food from other birds and even otters. They eat largely fish, but also take various birds, rabbits and hares.

Some pairs kill many fulmars, which are thought to be the source of DDT and PCBs (chemicals) recorded in eagle eggs. Carrion is an important part of their diet, especially during the winter months. Most lambs are taken as carrion.

When fishing, they fly low over water, stop to hover for a moment and drop to snatch fish from the surface.

During the breeding season while they are rearing young, they require 500-600g of food per day. This drops to 200-300g per day during the winter months when the birds are less active.

My social distancing continues. One of my friends commented: "Mike, you've always maintained social distancing!" Maybe there's a bit of truth to that? On topic: My project to do a gallery of my trip to the Falklands continues. Here's one that I put a great deal of work in removing branches behind this Long-tailed Meadowlark as it dove off a brambly bush near one of the lodges in the Falklands.

Stay safe, we're making progress.

A rufous tailed hummingbird coming to some flowers. I was amazed at the different colors all the hummingbird displayed and how it would change in different light or if they were displaying. I have counted 18 different hummingbird species that I had seen on this trip.

This long tailed duck took a big leap and jumped over another long tailed duck and land right back in the water. It looked more like a leap than taking flight, which was very interesting to me. If you look closely you can see the other duck in the water.

A white tailed deer on a beautiful Autumn day!

The pigeon tail (Macroglossum stellatarum), also called pigeon tail [1] or carp tail, is a butterfly (moth) from the family of hawkers (Sphingidae). Its German name is derived from the two-part tuft of hair at the end of the abdomen, which has a certain resemblance to the tail feathers of pigeons. The pigeon tail is known as a migrant butterfly in almost all of Europe. It is also called a hummingbird warmer because of its noticeable flight behavior, which is known as hovering flight and which is similar to that of a hummingbird. Numerous alleged hummingbird sightings in Europe can be traced back to observations of this butterfly species.

The oldest known wild Red-tailed Hawk was at least 30 years, 8 months old when it was found in Michigan in 2011, the same state where it had been banded in 1981.

Amazilia tzacatl

(Rufous-tailed Hummingbird / Amazilia de cola rufa)

The Rufous-tailed Hummingbird is a medium-sized hummingbird. It has a distinctly rufous-colored tail, from which its named is derived, and a bright pink bill. Like other hummingbirds, it feeds on nectar and small insects. It can be highly territorial over feeding areas.

The Rufous-tailed Hummingbird is perhaps the most common species of hummingbird at forest edge and in gardens and cultivated areas from southern Mexico south to northwestern South America.
