This girl had her faceup "enhanced" by the owner before the one that sold her to me.

The modification was done rather clumsily, with acrylic paint added on top of her default Volks Tae (Lovely Dress) faceup. There was light pink paint over her upper eyelids, and some black paint added to her eyeliner, and corner lashes.

Today, I removed this layer of paint carefully, with rubbing alcohol. It worked surprisingly well. I'm guessing that the extra paint was never sealed with MSC, so that worked to my advantage.

There was a bit of a mess, as some of the darker stuff smudged a bit around the outer part of the eyes. I've cleaned it up to the best of my ability.

Now, I've added MSC, re-blushed the problem areas, added blush to her ears and chin, and thoroughly sealed the whole faceup again.

I just have to re-apply gloss to her eyes and lips (with a touch of pearlizer), and she should be just fine.

I really, really like her default Volks faceup, and really wanted to try to save it. I think that's working out so far. whew... :P

CAMP HUMPHREYS — This is a special week for KATUSAs and U.S. Soldiers. They can relax and have fun during a five-day festivity known as KATUSA/U.S. Soldier Friendship Week.

The week featured sporting events, cultural tours, concerts and unit-level activities.

The celebration kicked off with an opening ceremony that featured an honor guard performance and a Tae Kwon Do demonstration by Soldiers with the 2nd Infantry Division. There were also musical numbers, which audience members received enthusiastically.

KATUSAs and U.S. Soldiers competed in basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, arm wrestling, and Ssireum wrestling, a traditional Korean sport.

“I love sports, but playing with U.S. Soldiers is a whole new experience,” said Cpl. Oh, Hyeon-myeong, of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys. “It is exciting to be cooperating for a common goal, and also fascinating how people from different countries can communicate well when they are playing sports.”

The week also featured the Korean Culture Experience, which included rice cake making, traditional craft making, a totem pole, paper making, a twirling event, and Korean folk paintings.

U.S. Soldiers gained insight into Korean customs with traditional Korean costumes and plays.

One highlight of the festivities will be the talent show today, at 3 p.m., in the post theater, which will feature performances by various KATUSA and U.S. Soldiers.

I met Tae one warm Saturday afternoon in Linden Alley, Hayes Valley, where I'd ridden over there to get a shot of Greed1's sad megaman.

"I wonder why he looks so sad?", Tae says, polishing a car he was working on while I'm snapping. "I mean, most murals here are pretty cheerful but this one is just sad. And he's covered in blood too. What's all that about?"

"I guess it's just something a bit geeky and different?"

"I guess..."

"So how often do the pieces on the wall change?"

"It's almost every week... some are funny, some are political - it's always good to see something new."

"No kidding - I love the wall behind you, by the way."

"Oh this thing? Yeah, it's pretty awesome" as he looks over huge mural on the side of the wall of Linden alley. Tae picks at a bit of peeling paint. "Though I'm thinking of asking the artist to come back and touch this up a bit - it's starting to dry out and peel."

"How long have you been working here?"

"Oh, I've been working here 10 years. Seen this neighborhood change a lot."

"What did it used to be like?"

"Well, when the old freeway was here there were so many shadows - shadows cast by the old freeway where homeless and druggies would hide out, the whole area was pretty sketchy. But when the freeway came down it brought in so much light, opened the place up."

"When did all the restaurants and coffee shops move in?"

"A lot moved in recently but some have been here ages - everything is bright and busy now, it's pretty great, lots of families and stuff."

"Yeah, it's a great neighborhood to visit. Thanks for your time Tae, hope you have a good one!"

"Yeah you too!"

Tae's head has arrived today. Oh! Yeah! (=^o^=)v

The brand new Tae is amazingly beautiful! Rabiruna did the face up just exactly I wanted. The eyebrows are perfect. Extremely neat and delicate. And the eyelashes are very thick and long. So gorgeous! I am very happy with her new face up now.

I snapped some photos right away. Please forgive me for improper picture. (^^;;)
