backstage setting by Artoleria for table setting

I can't believe I only have 3 days of b & w left! I'm really starting to get the hang of the processing, I think. By converting to LAB and then equalizing the lightness channel, I'm able to alter the histogram which means basically that when I desaturate the image I've got a lot more tonal information to work with. Great technique than I got from here.

In the 4-H Table Setting Contest at the 2022 Lancaster County Super Fair, youth selected a theme and displayed one place setting, including table covering, dishes, glassware, silverware, centerpiece and menu. Youth chose one of the following categories: formal, casual, picnic or birthday.

During the contest, youth set up their table and have five minutes to present their table setting to a judge. After all judging is complete, the public is welcome to view the tables.

Friendship Tea, Feb. 12, 2011 - Bothell, WA

This tablesetting was extraordinary. In the center was a bamboo-wood model of Noah's Ark, complete with a ramp with animals going up it in pairs. The napkins are folded as ships, with animal crackers in them and fish strewn across the blue (how fitting!) glass plates. Each mug had an attached ceramic animal inside it. On the other side of the table was a ceramic teapot representing Noah's Ark. So clever!

Love the fact that you can compete on "Best Tablesetting" at the Fair. This theme was all about orange...with a sign that said "Orange You Glad We Have Freedom of Choice."

Table set for a Thanksgiving dinner for friends

A fulfilling life is different to each person. You have to acknowledge your dreams, and not just wait for life to happen, and opportunities to come knocking at your door. -Joan Lunden

A small group of us decided to head to Linda's for dinner. I was interested because of Chef Wing's strong recommendation not long ago about a particular lamb preparation that was on May's set menu.

a gift to my best friend and her husband for their fourth wedding anniversary. made four of them. has asian patchwork on the reverse side.

It's our fifth wedding anniversary tomorrow. The spoon and crockery were wedding gifts but, as we had a dual-city marriage for four years, they had been sitting in a box until I moved from Hong Kong to Delhi. The cloth is a gift from a friend who went to Bhutan. The spoon is designed by South African Carrol Boyes.

I took this photo over Thanksgiving at the inn my parents own, The Seven Hills Inn.

They have lovingly turned Thanksgiving dinner into a huge family and friends get together; on the order of 30+ people each year. Mom goes to great lengths to set the table and decorate the inn, while Dad mans the kitchen.

Anyway, here’s the photos of the place setting this year. Looking forward to next years!
