This conference table is made out of monkeypod wood, also known as ear tree. It was designed to display the flame patterns in the central pieces of wood and the name also refers to the fact that this wood 'rose from the ashes' since it would have been burned or mulched if not recovered by Viable Lumber. This piece was done by Joe Pettit of Pettit Custom Woodworks and won first prize in the Florida State Fair.
My husband, Bean brings me coffee every morning and lights candles on my bedside table. What a wonderful way to wake up. I sure love him!
Vintage Chocolate size 12 x 26 table runner. I picked a Consumer Reports magazine and this shows page 28. A bathroom with browns and teals and straight lines. More photos at:
(Miroslav Mika Antic)
Blending exotic wood and two levels of glass creates a coffee table that is a functional and contemporary conversation piece.
The wood’s curved shape comes from careful cutting on the scroll saw. It is then sanded and finished with a clear lacquer to maintain that glossy shine.
The two glass shelves are made of Plexiglas. Each are cut on the scroll saw and then sanded to fine tune the shape.
The legs are aluminum threaded posts and rivets.
Bloodwood is sometimes referred to as satine or cardinal wood, for its obvious beautiful deep rose color. With age it's color does darken, but not significantly. The growth range of the species is reported to include French Guiana, Brazil, Peru, Panama, Venezuela, West and Central Africa.
This table’s dimensions are approximately 1 ½ inches tall, 5 inches wide, and 3 ¼ inches deep. Width and depth are at the widest and deepest points.
Felting table shown from other end of studio...Should have waited until the yard was tidier to snap this one:-)
The pouncing effect is interesting, but not really 'grain-y'. I still have to touch up the other red chair before staining it as well.
A tall kamagong side table
Last Quarter, 19th century, Manila
Kamagong with brass mount
78.5 x 53 x 34.5 cm (31 x 21 x 13 1/2 in)
Made of precious dark kamagong wood, the tall tapering legs – with beautifully carved rings, cup and cylinder turnings and reeded shafts that terminate in blunt arrow feet separated by rings – support the two-piece top and frieze drawer. The drawer has a keyhole protected by an escutcheon, and old replacement pulls, which when opened reveals two compartments. A divided compartment to segregate money suggests the possibility that this may have been used at one point as a tienda table in a store.
