Berklee Valencia students, alongside their teachers, performed at Synesthesia - Winter Music Festival, a 5-day-long concert series which took place at Veles e Vents from December 11th to December 15th, 2018. Photos by Tato Baeza.

Keyboard-driven Prog Rock outfit Kyros (nee Synesthesia) led by vocalist & multi-instrumentalist Shelby Logan Warne (nee Adam Warne) took the audience in Cambridge by storm with a great set drawn from their four albums so far. The power-house rhythm section of Peter Episcopo on bass and the incredible Robin Johnson on ferocious drums and percussion drove the show along at a frenetic pace demonstrating just how tight this band are now as Joey Frevola added fluid guitar over the top. The infamous acoustics at the Portland did them no favours, sadly, with the keyboard lines and guitar licks barely audible at times. Still an enjoyable return to full-on live gigs!

Duncan Laurie's brilliant studio, as viewed from above. We got to stay here all weekend long. Happily, the rain didn't get through the roof.

Optofonica Capsule

The Optofonica Capsule is a futuristic design/architectural object, featuring a mechanized structure whose parts form an autonomous immersive audiovisual environment. The shell-like shape of the capsule wraps the body of the visitor to optimize the experience of surround and Tactile Sound. Low frequencies are transduced directly into the bone-system of the human body, thereby converting the sound into hyper-perceivable vibration; this adds a completely new sensorial dimension to the fruition of the piece and expands the possibilities of creation by the artists.
