"Often considered one of the hardest compositions to pull off, Symmetry. Challenge yourself this week by shooting a symmetrical landscape/urbanscape. "
I took the train from Paris to Nimes in the middle of the day, and ended up here with half an hour to spare. I had just enough time to get some pastries and some HDRs. What else does a man need in life?
Here is a little tip that I'm sure many of you already know... but I thought I would go ahead and say it anyway! If you want a symmetrical shot, get in the absolute center. And I mean absolute. Check your corners, count the girders, etc. You'll have to get a little OCD if you want a perfectly centered shot!

Images of impossible symmetric architecture. Inspired by modern cities, I’ve created these impossible symmetric images of buildings hanging in the sky. Soporific & exciting architecture alike, become intricate structures of concrete and glass. Sometimes they turn out looking like a spaceship, sometimes the image is completely abstract. I leave it too your own imagination to find the spaceship amongst them.
LISIEUX HALL IS A MEDIAEVAL MANOR HOUSE PREVIOUSLY NAMED CROOK HALL, WHICH BELONGED TO THE CROOK FAMILY FROM 16TH TO THE EARLY 19TH CENTURY. LISIEUX HALL WAS ALTERED IN THE 1930’S, AND HAS BEEN USED AS A CARE HOME EVER SINCE.
IT IS IN SANDSTONE WITH SLATE ROOFS, IN TWO STOREYS AND ATTICS, AND HAS A PLAN OF THREE PARALLEL RANGES. THERE IS A SYMMETRICAL FRONT OF SEVEN BAYS CONTAINING A PORCH WITH FOUR TUSCAN COLUMNS, A FRIEZE, AND A MOULDED CORNICE. INSIDE THE PORCH IS A DOORWAY WITH ENGAGED IONIC COLUMNS. ON THE LEFT SIDE ARE THE REMAINS OF 17TH-CENTURY MULLIONED WINDOWS. ON THE RIGHT SIDE ARE CANTED BAY WINDOWS, ONE IN TWO STOREYS.
This painting is called A line as Beautiful as the Moon, Time is Too Narrow To Contain It, But My Heart Does So. It is painted by Richard DePeaux. This is an example of symmetrical balance. Symmetrical Balance means that if you cut a line down the center of the piece, the two sides are a mirror image of each other. I was drawn to this piece by its simplicity. Simple lines on a black canvas does not seem like much, but it gives a very calming effect to the viewer.
Went for a trip with Ja-Hatten to a tree floor manufacturer. The factory was up an running and we had to use our best sneaking abilities to stay out of sight C-:
When we sneak we don't touch or damage anything. It's all about capturing some industrial and historical parts of the society that are not normally shown C-:
Symmetric walls. Guangzhou. After a very short night during which I barely slept, I took the train to Guangzhou from Honk-Kong. Once arrived, I had to pass through the immigration. I was worried because after a mix up during my connection in Beijing, my one entry visa was ticked, although not...

I had a fantastic time during my stay in Brisbane. Although not touted as the biggest attraction in Australia, we couch surfed with an awesome guy named Steve who really went all out to ensure we had a great time in his city.
I am a big fan of symmetry and architecture (although I confess to know little about it other than the visual appeal), thus this scene in downtown Brisbane caught my eye (and I was quite lucky to not be bombarded with a plethora of people walking around)
