Meg Alycia Sylvester. Miss Plymouth.

I wish you a happy new Year and a good 2016.

Einen guten Rutsch is neue Jahr und ein gutes Jahr 2016 ;-)

Sylver, He is very clever.

A cat with truly nine lives. It was really touch and go. The dog mauled him so badly that it was projected that he will lose a leg even if he survives. Good news: he made a full recovery and he kept his leg! One of his eyes is naturally dark, and he can see with both eyes. Taken with Montgomery Ward 135 F2.8 lens, can't remember what aperture.

Saint Sylvester's Church is a Jesuit Mission on the Red Rock Indian Band on section Lake Helen 53A.

It was established in 1852, and is locally called Opoo-gan-asin (Pipestone). The first mass was celebrated on February 29, 1852, in the Hudson Bay Company barn. Located on an old fur trade route, the Lake Helen area has often been the scene of great activity, particularly during the construction of the transcontinental railway. Father Joseph Herbert (Natainabow leander) built the priest's house and Father D. Duranquet (Waiashtestkang—Gives Light) accompanied by the local Indians selected the spot on which the church was built which was completed in 1877 Jesuit Brothers decided to have this church built along their water route, which served as a rest stop before going to the Jesuit Missions at Gull Bay, White Sand, Nipigon House, Grand Bay and McIntre Bay on Lake Nipigon. The original bell brought to Lake Helen by Delaronde was blessed by Rev. Joseph Specht SJM on October 7, 1880.

The Red Rock Indian Band is currently developing a plan to upgrade and restore this historical landmark. The Red Rock Indian Band plans to document and map out all graves that are located at St. Sylvester’s church. After they have mapped out and marked all grave sites, they are going to level out the cemetery ground and mark each grave site with a new cross identifying each person buried there.

Once they have restored the cemetery grounds the Red Rock Indian Band will then move on to restoration and upgrading of St. Sylvester’s church infrastructure. This will include securing the building and footings, painting and replacing the current siding, new roofing, and cosmetic restoration on the inside.

Sylvester Enzio Stallone (/stəˈloʊn/; born Michael Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone, July 6, 1946) is an American actor, screenwriter, director, and producer.[1] After his beginnings as a struggling actor for a number of years upon arriving to New York City in 1969 and later Hollywood in 1974, he won his first critical acclaim as an actor for his co-starring role as Stanley Rosiello in The Lords of Flatbush. Stallone subsequently found gradual work as an extra or side character in films with a sizable budget until he achieved his greatest critical and commercial success as an actor and screenwriter, starting in 1976 with his role as boxer Rocky Balboa, in the first film of the successful Rocky series (1976–present), for which he also wrote the screenplays.[2] In the films, Rocky is portrayed as an underdog boxer who fights numerous brutal opponents, and wins the world heavyweight championship twice.. wikipedia

This is another photo taken with the flash bounced off the ceiling. :-)

Sylvester will be going to the vets for an operation tomorrow. He has a small lump on the left side of his neck area. It might not be anything too serious, but even if it's nothing really nasty it could cause problems, especially as it gets larger. It's about as easy an op to remove it as it would be to take a sample, so that's what will be happening (and it's best to remove these thing when they're small rather than wait until they're large and it's a longer operation).

But even though it's a small lump and it should be a relatively easy operation, there's always a small risk with the anaesthetic - so please keep your fingers crossed for him tomorrow!

My cat Sylvester - the most amazing cat in the world! With a mustache and personality like Djingis Khan... On one hand he behaves like a king, doing what he wants and only when he wants it, on the other hand when we are outside he is loyal like a dog. Walking side by side with me outside in the forest or around the neighbourhood, yelling at me when I am too far away from him. The best cat there is, my baby :)

I have known for some time that I wasn't going to leave Sylvester outside in the alley for very long.

I did not intend to bring Sylvester home again so soon. However, on Saturday when I went to feed the alley cats he seemed to be desperate. It has been around -25C at night for quite a few nights now and only warms up to around -20C during the daytime. He was waiting at the feeding station on Saturday and though he ran and hid, he soon popped out again and he was meowing. He sounded frantic, and he has never meowed at me before when I was at the alley. Because of the intense and long cold, I took it as a sign that he is not doing well at the alley.

I was not able to trap him on Saturday night and all that night as well as during the day on Sunday I worried about him. Sunday after work I spent 45 minutes wrapping one of my traps with a tarp and at feeding time I put out the trap. It took less than 15 minutes and I had him again. He is now safe and warm in a room of his own. He seems very glad to be indoors and he has let me pet him already. He talks to me and he has eaten. I think he remembers being with me before. He hides when I come in the room, but he peers out at me through the bars of his hiding spot (as in the picture above).

UPDATE: I went to check on him a few minutes after I posted this and I can see he has an injury to one of his back legs, possibly an infected bite. I will be trying to get him into the vets tomorrow.

UPDATE (Feb 11): Sylvester's wound is clean, but the vet gave him a shot of Convenia as a precaution. His wound is kind of a long scratch, about an inch long, with some deeper areas on it. To me it looks like he scraped it diving under the chain link fence that is at the alley. I also got him vaccinated while I was there, since I am not putting him back out in the alley. He is doing very well, trying not to hide when I enter the room. I will try to post pictures and a better update tomorrow.
