W5856 is the oldest surviving airworthy Fairey Swordfish in the world. She first flew on Trafalgar Day (21 October) 1941 and was a “Blackfish”, built by Blackburn Aircraft at Sherburn-in-Elmet and delivered to 82 MU (Lichfield) on 20 October 1941 for overseas transport to Gibraltar. W5856 served with the Royal Navy’s Mediterranean Fleet for a year. Little is known of her role while on active Service in the Mediterranean but it is likely W5856 was based at North Front, Gibraltar, carrying out patrols over the Straits. She was then returned to Fairey’s Stockport factory for refurbishment during winter 1942/43.

If you're a sports fisherman this is quite a prize. Last year's Shark Tournament boasted a prize pool of over $1 million. The largest fish caught in 2008 was a 465 lb. thresher off the Fugged About.

I must admit that I love shark steaks, but I am very willing to forego this tasty dish so these magnificent, soon to be endangered animals can live. Shark tournaments are not a pretty sight.

No, just a piece of moss with a waterdop that I think looks like a swordfish :o)))

The Fairey Swordfish was a biplane torpedo bomber used by the British Royal Navy during World War II. Despite its slow speed and outdated design, it played a key role in several major naval battles, including the sinking of the Bismarck. It was affectionately nicknamed the "Stringbag" by its pilots for its ability to carry a wide variety of weapons and fulfil multiple roles.

still some things i wanna change before a real post, but here's one of the things i've been working on for a few weeks! would love to hear some input as i still may change bits and pieces!

apologies for the shite photo but this isn't a final pic

More curves! Its not that I think curvy guns are awesome, more just that... well, in 0.6 they are ridiculously fun to make.

A much loved brooch worn by my Grandmother, now missing a eye and a few rhinestone scales.

At the beginning of quarantine I re-watched Cowboy Bebop, and since I have been working on a model of Spike's iconic fighter/racer, the Swordfish. The sleek nature of the racing ship combined with the roughly tacked on cannon has always been a compelling design to me, and I am pretty satisfied with my recreation of it. In future iterations I would love to integrate the folding wings and landing gear as well as a more accurately shaped engine.

Thank you for viewing!

I took these shots at the weekend of the Swordfish Mk1 W5856 which belongs to The Royal Navy Historic Flight based at RNAS Yeovilton.

A MONO Racer that was modified and converted into a starfighter by a mechanic named Doohan and later used by ex-Syndicate bounty hunter Spike Spiegel from 2061 to 2071.

I originally had a more involved stand for this, but it seemed too busy for such a sleek design.* By far the most difficult part of the build was figuring out how to attach the two central helicopter blade parts back to back and still have them hold up the weight of the wings. I know the nose isn't supposed to continue under the cockpit like that, but I was unable to find a solution that would hide it without sacrificing the streamlined look of everything.

*Said stand has since been re-purposed and redesigned for the Dragonfly.
