View across Lake St. Moritz (Lej da San Murezzan) in late October. It was a cold morning, but the lake was not yet frozen, which allowed us to enjoy the reflections.

The south wind is flowing over the Matterhorn bringing the bad weather. For those at the summit it is now too late to escape.
The Daubensee at the point in the morning when the first rays of sun illuminate the water. The stunning mountains on the other side of the lake are the Rote Totz (left) and the Felshore. The route that borders the lake is the historical link between the Rhône valley (Leukerbad) and the region of Bern (through Kandersteg).
Euschelsflue is the sharp peak behind the small hut. Ober Chüeboden is the name of the alpage at the left of the image.
Long hike to access this remote valley located above the village of Jaun, Canton de Fribourg, Switzerland.
A landscape with scale in the unscathed region between Kanton Bern, Kanton Waadt, and Kanton Freiburg. The maids of Savigny are impressive. There are three of them in a row. Here we can see the first one. To access their summit, one needs to have excellent climbing skill and good ropes. They are dreadfully steep! So, beware!
Advice: Stay away from them.

Looking at the Fromberghore from the Niesen Kulm.
Mount Niesen is a mountain in central Switzerland, Kanton Bern. In September the light in the high mountains is just so beautiful. The clouds play with the summits in such a stunning way.
Mount Niesen is located between two valleys Nierdersimmental and Kandertal.
To the top of the white Sphinx.
Type "L" to count the number of mountaineers rushing to the summit of the Breithorn (4'164 meters). The weather was superb but the wind was quite strong.
The view of the Fribourg Alps from the Schafberg is probably the most stunning. From here we can see the entire Gastlosen chain, the Vanil Noir and the Dent de Brenleire, looking south. Looking west, which is the right side of the picture, we can see the incredible trio of the Chörbli, Combiflue, and Schopfenspitz.
The Schafberg is the ideal place to be early in the morning, and late in the evening, just before dusk. At these two times of day, the light spreads out amazingly over the mountains. Beware, however, that access to the Schafberg requires at least a two-hour walk along an alpine path. You won't meet many people on your way.
The "Doigt de Savigny" is a monument shaped by forces of nature. Every time I walk by it, I ask myself how long it will stand in what looks like a highly precarious equilibrium. Only God knows. How did it resist the erosion that made all its surroundings disappear? It is natural resilience.
The Doigt de Savigny is located close to the Porte de Savigny in the Gastlosen mountain range.
Pointe de Paray is a mountain in the Swiss Alps. It is located on the border between the cantons of Fribourg and Vaud near the Gruyère region. Altitude: 2,375 metres.
Nietzsche wrote, referring to Val Fex: “There is no place I love as much”. I can understand why! This is such a peaceful valley.
“Val Fex” is located to the south of Sils in Upper Engadine, Switzerland. The average altitude is about 2'000 meters.
The name of the valley derives from the Romansh word “feda”, meaning sheep, as the people of Bregaglia once brought large herds of sheep here. The name of the torrent visible at the center of the image is "Fedacla".
Val Bernina is a place in raw heaven. The colours, the mountains and the lakes are all out of this world. The landscape could be from the moon or even from planet Mars. But no, we are in the eastern part of Switzerland, in Engadine.
Here we can see the deep blue Lej Nair with Piz Alv (in the middle) and Piz Lagalb in the background. What an incredible journey !
There is one thing missing in this image: the mythical red train from the Rhätische Bahn for which you can see the railway on the right side of the image.
A lonely mobile home at the south end of the Silsersee in a glorious Autumn morning. The prodigious blend of pastures, lakes, and high mountains is a hallmark of Kanton Graubünden.
The valley of the Petit Mont, Canton Fribourg, as seen from the Chalet du Soldat. These are the Gruyère highlands; the region from which the best Gruyère cheese comes from.
The Gastlosen mountain range appears on the left side of the image. On the right side, we can see the Cheval Blanc and the Hochmatt mountains.
The whole region was covered with a thick glacier as can be seen from the shapes of erosion.

Jean-Luc Piller
Autumn is a beautiful hiking season. View of lake Sils and Piz Lagrev in the eastern part of Switzerland.
Patrouille des Glaciers 2022
The Patrouille des Glaciers (PDG) is a ski-mountaineering race organised by the Swiss army. A patrol is composed of three persons. It takes place every two years on the alpine ridges in the south of the canton of Valais at the end of April.

The Chalet d'Alpage Le Lapé appears at the right of the image.
A tranquil image of the Cape au Moine above the sea of fog that covers the Rhône valley and the lake. To the right of the Cap au Moine tip, the Rochers de Naye can be seen in the second plan and the Dents du Midi in the third plan.
The image was capture as a multilayer panorama with the excellent Sony Zeiss Sonnar T* FE 55 mm F1.8 ZA.

The Cabane des Aiguilles Rouges, built in 1948, is located in Val d'Hérens, Switzerland, above Arolla and offers 70 beds in non-Covid mode. It belongs to the Aiguilles-Rouges hut association. The grey building is quite recent and is at odds with the original stone and wood constructions.
Altitude: 2'821 metres.
In 1947, Hans Ueli von Waldkirch, a medical student and member of the Academic Alpine Club of Geneva (CAAG), had a fatal accident during the ascent of the Arête Bertol. His parents then decided to devote the money earmarked for what should have been the installation of his medical practice to the construction of a high mountain refuge in his memory.
The site was chosen at an altitude of 2'821 m., at the foot of the Aiguilles-Rouges d'Arolla, in Val d'Hérens, on the territory of the commune of Evolène. The refuge is located in a place where the view is vast and magnificent, allowing climbers who want to cross the Aiguilles-Rouges to rest before setting off on this long and difficult alpine route. Its location at the foot of the gigantic Aiguilles-Rouges gave the name to this mountain hut.
The refuge was built in 1948 and inaugurated in June 1949. Maurice Maître, a carpenter who took part in the construction, became the first guardian. At that time, he had no direct link with his family and the the valley. For important announcements, a messenger would run to the hut to bring him information. If there was an accident at the Aiguilles-Rouges, the caretaker or another person had to go down to give the alarm.
During the first years a mule was used to transport supplies first from Les Haudères to La Gouille (a small hamlet in the valley), then via the Lac Bleu up to the hut. The supplies were mainly wood for the fire, drinks and food for the guards and guests. If there was still snow on the way, the mule had to be unloaded and the load would be carried on a man's back. Later, the plane would transport the wood and drop it in the vicinity of the hut or, if it was fragile material, drop it upstream on the glacier, from where it was brought down to the hut. Since 1967, supplies have mainly been delivered by Air-Glaciers' helicopters.
On the way up to the Stockhone we come across the Hinderstockesee, a beautiful lake concealed by the mountains.
