Punakha Valley, Bhutan.
Rice terraces stairstep down the Punakha Valley in Bhutan, a tiny Buddhist kingdom in the Himalaya. Roughly three-quarters of the country's 635,000 people survive by raising crops and livestock, but less than a tenth of the rugged land is arable.
Smyrna Methodist Church is a historic church in rural White County, Arkansas. It is a single story wood frame structure, with a gabled roof, mainly weatherboard siding, and a stone foundation. A small open belfry rises from the roof ridge, topped by a gabled roof. The front facade has a projecting gabled vestibule, its gabled section finished in diamond-cut wooden shingles. The main gable is partly finished in vertical board siding, with decorative vergeboard woodwork attached to the roof edge. Built in 1854, it is one of the county's few surviving pre-Civil War buildings, and its finest surviving Greek Revival church. Some of the logs used to build the church began growing as trees in the early 1600s.
The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

The Rock Pigeon (Columba livia) is a bird that belongs to the Columbidae family. It is the species which includes the domestic pigeon and most of the pigeons of the cities but which also survives as a wild bird in its natural environment of origin: the cliffs and other rocky environments. The domestic type is different from the wild type.

The monastery of San Juan de la Peña is a religious complex in the town of Santa Cruz de la Serós, at the south-west of Jaca, in the province of Huesca, Spain. It was one of the most important monasteries in Aragon in the Middle Ages. Its two-level church is partially carved in the stone of the great cliff that overhangs the foundation. San Juan de la Peña means "Saint John of the Cliff".
The lower church includes some mozarabic architectural surviving elements, although most of the parts of the monastery (including the impressive cloister, under the great rock) are Romanesque. After the fire of 1675, a new monastery was built. The old monastery (built in 920) was declared a National Monument on 13 July 1889, and the new monastery in 1923. In the 11th century the monastery became part of the Benedictine Order and was the first monastery in Spain to use the Latin Mass.
The cloister, built ca. 1190, contains a series of capitals with Biblical scenes that originally were arranged in chronological sequence, a design found elsewhere in the region.[1]
The monastery is built beneath a huge rock sometimes associated with the legendary "Monte Pano". The second floor contains a royal pantheon of kings of Aragon and Navarre. The present room, with its marbles and stucco medallions recalling historic battles, is mainly a design built during the administration of Charles III of Spain in 1770. It contains the resting places of the following kings of Aragón: Ramiro I, Sancho Ramírez, and Peter I of Aragon and Navarre
Legend said that the chalice of the Last Supper (Holy Grail) was sent to the monastery for protection and prevention from being captured by the Muslim invaders of the Iberian Peninsula. It is alleged to be the same cup that was presented in 1438 by Alfonso V of Aragon to the Valencia Cathedral. See Santo cáliz for further details.
The monastery is the namesake of the Chronicle of San Juan de la Peña, which was partially researched and composed there.
I've been taking some mobile artistry courses and this is the result of work done on the ipad. I'm really amazed at how much these apps can do! Also, the original photo was taken with a wonderful black and white camera app called Lenka--I highly recommend it. Be sure to check out the apps Glitché and Matter. This was an abandoned church for sale in a very small Texas town.

I placed rocks around it and am happy to see it return yearly.
A mat-forming species of Dianthus well-suited for use as a small-scale groundcover. Blooms over a long period, the cheery flowers are resting atop a bed of deep green, needle-like foliage. Good soil drainage, year-round, is essential.
Uses
Perfectly sized for rock gardens and border fronts. Cut flowers are long-lasting in fresh bouquets. Perfect for all kinds of containers.

It really is a Miracle Garden covering a large expanse of desert. With temperatures in the 40s, it's hard to believe anything could survive let alone be this beautiful.

Ortalis columbiana (Colombian Chacalaca / Guacharaca)
Endemic to Colombia, as its name would suggest, and the only chachalaca within its now relatively limited range in the central (Cauca and Magdalena) valleys of the country. It is found in both humid and deciduous forests, but the species’ range and population are both almost certainly declining, and it survives only in pockets.

Storm - Lifehouse
How long have I been in this storm?
So overwhelmed by the ocean's shapeless form
Water's getting harder to tread
With these waves crashing over my head
If I could just see you
Everything would be alright
If I'd see you
This darkness would turn to light
And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright
I know everything is alright
I know you didn't bring me out here to drown
So why am I ten feet under and upside down?
Barely surviving has become my purpose
'Cause I'm so used to living underneath the surface
If I could just see you
Everything would be alright
If I'd see you
This darkness would turn to light
And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright
And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright
I know everything is alright

Actual shot. Had a walk down the water and saw this spider struggles to hold onto its thread in a high wind…hope he succeeded. Bird feathers were floating in the air in every direction.

"And it's falling apart
Around us now
The room in a spin
I hear the howl of the wind
And the pounding of the rain
And I'd give everything to dream again
There must be more than
Surviving, surviving
Surviving, surviving
Surviving, surviving
And nothing else"

I won't just survive
Oh, you will see me thrive
Can't write my story
I'm beyond the archetype
I won't just conform
No matter how you shake my core
'Cause my roots, they run deep, oh
Oh, ye of so little faith
Don't doubt it, don't doubt it
Victory is in my veins
I know it, I know it
And I will not negotiate
I'll fight it, I'll fight it
I will transform
When, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, you're out of time
But still, I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise

Hello amazing Flickr people!!
Today is red day at Color My World Daily. And at Macro Mondays the theme is: windowsill.
Lately, on my windowsill I have plenty of items, including plants… Yes, you heard right, I have a few new plants mostly lettuce and celery … I’m planning on starting a small vegetable garden in my backyard.
But today, on my windowsill we have Red Lady. She is standing in her small red house, watching the world outside… Everything is so calm and peaceful outside… No cars (or only a few), people walking calmly and keeping their distances… It feels like the whole world just stopped and now it is adjusting to the new social distancing rules.
Red Lady feels so lucky to be safe and well in her small house. But at the same time, she looks at her windows and she must admit that she needs to wash those really fast if she wants to be able to see something... And it has to be done way before the lockdown is over !! So yes, people I have to get my act together and do some spring cleaning ASP!! Thank you Macro Mondays people for this awesome theme which made me realize how much my windows are dirty, from the outside and inside as well !!
And since it is Monday, I have another video meeting this morning so wish me luck !
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts / positive vibes!! It is truly appreciated! I sincerely hope everyone is all right and you all have everything you need to survive this with a smile! Have a great day and see you soon!!
In a small valley in the Luberon hills surrounded by forests in Provence sits the beautiful abbey of Sénanque. This shot was taken standing inside the Abbeys cloisters in 2018
The abbey was consecrated in 1178. Amongst its surviving structures, arefine examples of Romanesque architecture including the abbey church, cloister, dormitory and chapter house. The abbey is a remarkably untouched by time the architecture is quite severe , not to offer sensual distraction.
In the 13th and 14th centuries, Sénanque reached its apogee, operating four mills, seven farms and possessing large estates in Provence. In 1509 the community at Sénanque had shrunk to about a dozen monks. During the Wars of Religion the quarters for the lay brothers were destroyed and the abbey was ransacked by Huguenots. At the French Revolution the abbey's lands were nationalised, the one remaining monk was expelled and Sénanque itself was sold to a private individual. It was only in 1854 that the Abbey returned to its traditional role
