Surfs up at Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Australia.; a great day was had by all! :-)

He thought we were out for a hike and then we were occupied with the waves that came crashing in.....
Poor guy 😁
As a farewell to our beachside holiday, we soared 77 floors above Surfers Paradise and checked out the whole coastline. It's more beautiful from the top. And they serve chips.
Today is our last day in the Gold Coast, off to a wedding this afternoon then up to the Sunshine Coast to relax :) so thought I better at least try and capture some sort of cityscape.
Night closes in and the lights come on as the well-known sun spot opens to tourists and the COVID-19 threat slowly diminishes.
Surfers Paradise late in the day as the sun sets, crowds depart and the tide works its way in. Clouds pick up the first pastels of the sinking sun.
Sunset cloud layers form over the surf capital as the light fades to blue in this perspective over the sea. The Pacific Ocean curves around a vast bay from the point of view, Coolangatta, the southern end of the Queensland Gold Coast.
A skyline that changed. In the 1970s Surfers Paradise on the Queensland Gold Coast had two storey hotels, one storey houses and the occasional luxury dwelling like the one on the right on Chevron Island. Now mostly it doesn't.
At night lights fire up these trees and the white surf. . Very pretty area for a night stroll. Just missed the full moon unfortunately.
Looking back now I wish we had more time to find other points to shoot the city, this was they only chance I had at night time after missing the sunset. Next time, will be more prepared :)

Just on daybreak the tourist capital of the Gold Coast, Surfers Paradise, looms above an eerily textured sea.
I was fiddling around trying to get the focus right, and didn't quite manage it, focus a bit soft, for the Surfers Paradise Fireworks on New Years Eve, there were some kids in front of me with a torch and light strip thingies running around randomly, lights were still on behind along the esplanade, thought it was an interesting abstract effect, coupled with a bit of ghosting.
