UP 1943, the Spirit parked west of SJ Jct. in Topeka tonight just long enough for me to fire off one shot. Thankfully, it turned out fairly well. This train was returning to Council Bluffs by way of Kansas City and running as the PFRCB3-06.

Day 351 of 365
"Image 351"
Today's image happened organically. While visiting my wife at work, the little one insisted on walking down the forbidden hall. As I adjusted the focus, our subject turned to give me this shapely look. I could not have arranged it. Thank you, little one!! You can see the light sources. My silly phone camera had no issues. My SLR would not have required a few adjustments before capturing a similar image. Thank you, silly phone camera! Thanks y'all for walking by!

Ourselves.
What many people fail to realize, is that those "massive numbers on gun violence and gun deaths charts" are inaccurate. Why? Well, suicides and gang related shootings make up a majority of those statistics. And as soon as I find that CNN chart (CNN is known for being quite left-leaning) to back that up I will, but I'm running short on time. Gangbangers don't follow legislation on anything let alone gun laws. So more gun control will only affect law. Abiding. Citizens. Now, suicide is a very touchy subject, and I don't want to dig too deeply into this subject, because I could offend a lot of people, which is most certainly not my goal. I know people who've lost loved ones to suicide and it's an awful awful tragedy. Nobody should ever feel self-destruction is their only way out of their suffering. I urge anyone who suspects a loved one or even themselves to be suicidal to find professional help. But to say it's "gun violence" or "the gun killed this person" is wrong. The person chose to end their own life, and the firearm just happened to be the method of going about their self-destruction. Again, my highest sympathies to those who've lost a loved one to suicide. It's a tragic, unnecessary, awful thing that should never happen and I mean that in the most sincere way I can. I support our troops to the fullest, and a lot of these guys coming back have PTSD and other injuries that change their lives overwhelmingly. Normally these vets own firearms, and sometimes, some vets, find suicide is their only way out because we have a government that won't help these heroes that have served to protect us. So my deepest condolences to all, especially those families whose loved one had served and payed the heaviest of prices in the name of Freedom.
But gun control legislation will not help.
When I say that sometimes timing is everything I mean it 100%. I’m not sure how many of you caught this gentlemen on the news this morning, I did. Only because I was up early getting ready for the baton. Michael Boncek set out on a 2,200 mile journey to raise awareness to the 22-a-day suicide rate among the veteran community. Michael Boncek is a disabled Army veteran himself, living with PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury, according to WRAL. While I was out driving to take my pics around the triangle today.. I saw him walking. This would have never hapoened if i was not holding the baton today . I immediately pulled my car over, waited for him, and told him thank you for his service to our country and for raising awareness for an illness that plagues our service men and women once they return home. If you are lucky enough to see him and be graced by his amazing spirit stop and tell him he is doing a great job it may just be what helps him walk another mile that day. Not a local spot I know but for sure a local hero. 📷 by @ashley_ann_hart #RDUBATON #army #thankful #supportourvets / on Instagram www.instagram.com/p/BDgrdMYjh9n/
