For some reason, I have a thing for these! I just think they're a cool looking little car, great to drive and with a generous amount of standard equipment.
The Picanto is the number one selling 'Light'/'Micro' car or 'Supermini' in Australia and is sold in 4 different grades, the S, X Line, GT Line and GT.
The top spec Picanto GT is a fun little drive too, with it's 1.0L Turbo 3cyl 5spd manual. An auto option will be made available in the coming months.
The Picanto GT Line is just one of a few cars that are on our list to replace our Peugeot 2008 that we've now had for 5 years.

Two nice old French cars, still on their original plates, seen here in my local town of Montbard, where I was staying in Burgundy. This supermarket often had interesting old cars, but unfortunately I was working most of the time so wasn't able to do much spotting! You can see part of the historic town in the background.

Fiat began designing the Ritmo hatchback – as a replacement for the 128 sedan – in 1972, following the body style of its 127 supermini as European manufacturers began launching small family hatchbacks, notably the Volkswagen Golf in 1974.
Prior to its launch, the press speculated that the project codename 138 would be the final production name, however, Fiat instead gave its new car the Ritmo name, rather than another three digit number. Offered in 3- and 5-door hatchback and cabriolet body styles – from 1978 to 1988 with two facelifts.
The Ritmo was manufactured at the Cassino plant using a system developed by its subsidiary Comau, the "Robogate" system – which automated the bodyshell assembly and welding process using robots, giving rise to its advertising slogan "Handbuilt by robots", immortalised in a television advertising campaign showing the robots assembling the Ritmo bodyshells to the strains of Rossini's The Barber of Seville. The exterior has plastic bumper fascias integrated into the styling which combined strong round shapes with overall sharp lines, achieving a drag coefficient of Cd=0.38.

The original Supermini (except for the FIAT 127, shh!). The Renault 5 joined the Renault lineup in 1972 as an inexpensive and efficient sub-compact car.
The Renault 5 shared the driveline layout with its nominal predecessor, the Renault 4, along with the larger Renault 16. This mounted an inline, 4-cylinder engine longitudinally, driving the front wheels, with the gearbox ahead of the front axle, and the engine behind the axle.
The layout produced a FWD car with a relatively long bonnet, but with extremely short overhangs compared with the wheelbase. The 5 made the most of the opportunity, being one of the very first cars to use polymer (plastic) bumpers, which fitted tightly to the overall form of the car.
The 5 was relatively light, being a full steel monocoque (by comparison, the R4 was a platform chassis with the body attached), this also increase body rigidity, making for nimble and sporty handling.
The 5 could fit four adults is (relative) comfort, though the car was quite narrow. The car appeared at a time when European car ownership was becoming common, but families were generally two adults and two children - the Renault 5 fitted their needs along with the narrow streets of French cities and towns.
Unlike any preceding or following 'numbered' Renaults, the 5 earned such a strong following, that the replacement car also wore the '5' moniker, though the second generation switched to transverse powertrains.

1976 – 2016: 40 años de historia del Ford Fiesta
(...)

The Renault Clio is a supermini car, produced by the French automobile manufacturer Renault. It was launched in 1990, and was in its fourth generation in 2012. The Clio has had substantial critical and commercial success, being consistently one of Europe's top-selling cars since its launch, and it is largely credited with restoring Renault's reputation and stature after a difficult second half of the 1980s. The Clio is one of only two cars, the other being the Volkswagen Golf, to have been voted European Car of the Year twice, in 1991 and 2006.
Clio Williams
In 1993, Renault launched the Clio Williams as a limited edition of 3,800 cars (1,300 more than they needed for homologation purposes) with each car bearing a numbered plaque on the dash. These sold out so quickly that Renault ended up building 1,600 more.
After the first series, due to the demand, Renault built the Williams 2 and 3. Altogether Renault made 12,100 Clio Williams. But because a lot of new road cars were directly converted to race cars and when damaged replaced with another converted road car, the actual number of road cars is significantly lower.
The car was named after the then Renault-powered Formula One team WilliamsF1, though Williams had nothing to do with the design or engineering of this Clio. The modifications to the Clio 16S on which it was based were the work of Renault Sport, Renault's motorsport division. Nevertheless, this car had a Formula One link by being the sport's Safety Car in 1996.
The 2.0 L 16-valve straight-4 engine rated at 147 PS (108 kW) and a top speed of 215 km/h (134 mph) with performance-tuned ride and handling. Renault later released the Williams 2 and Williams 3 special editions, much to the chagrin of those owners who had been assured of the exclusivity of the "original" Williams. One common mistake people can make is thinking that the 2.0 16V (F7R) used in the Williams is simply a bored out 1.8 16V (F7P), whereas, in reality the large engine had different size valves, cams, stroked crank and engine oil cooler. Other differences between the Williams and the Clio 16S it is based on include a wider front track with wishbones similar, but not the same as Renault 19, wider Speedline alloys, uprated (JC5) gearbox, bespoke four-to-one manifold, firmer suspension, and some cosmetic differences on the exterior and interior.[citation needed]
The differences between the three versions of the Williams were largely a reflection of phase changes across the Clio range, e.g. the gradual addition of enhanced safety features and cosmetic variations. Other than this, the Williams 1 and 2 had no sunroof and were painted in 449 Sports Blue. The final Williams 3 was painted in a slightly brighter shade of blue (432 Monaco Blue) and finally gained a sunroof which had long been standard on virtually all previous Clios. The original Williams was the lightest of the three, lacking the electrics necessary for the sunroof or the mirrors, and was the only one to sport a metal plaque stating the build number.
Respected motoring journalists consistently rate the Williams as one of the very best hot hatches ever made, regardless of era. One of its many accolades was 6th place in Evo's Car Of The Decade feature in 2004.
The Renault Clio Williams was and still is a very popular rally car. The basic racing version (Gr.N) had racing suspension, different engine management and a more free flowing exhaust. Power output was around 165 PS (121 kW). Roll cage was made by Matter France. Bucket seats were made by Sabelt.
The Next step up was the Gr.A car, which was fitted with 16″ Speedline 2012 rims (with optional extractors), further improvements on suspension and more tuned engine producing between 205-220 PS. Front brakes were also uprated with 323mm discs and 4 pot Alcon brake calipers.
The final evolution was the Renault Clio Williams Maxi kit-car with wider arches and 17″ Speedline 2012 rims and improved Proflex suspension. Sodemo engine was further tuned to 250-265 PS.

The Toyota Platz is a supermini automobile that was manufactured in Japan by Toyota from 1999 through to 2005, when replaced by the Toyota Belta. Designated by Toyota as the XP10 series, the Platz was sold in export markets as either the Toyota Echo or Toyota Yaris. The "Echo" and "Yaris" names were also given to the export version of the related Japanese market Toyota Vitz hatchback, from which the Platz derives. In Japan, it was only available at the Toyopet Store dealerships.
"Platz" is German for "space" (as defined by "the interior room is spacious"). Only inline-four engines were fitted to the Platz, which was sold in Japan as a four-door sedan only. A coupe was also available in North America where the car was badged "Echo".

SEAT 850
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The SEAT 850 was a car launched in 1966, based upon the Fiat 850. Originally only available with the same 2-door sedan body as used in Italy, two different 4-door versions also appeared in 1967.
The very rare corto (short) used the bodywork developed by Francis Lombardi for the Fiat 850 "Lucciola", while the largo (long) version used a floorpan lengthened by 15 cm and bodywork developed specifically by SEAT.
The car was produced in Spain from April 1966 to 1974 and it was quite popular during that time.
At the 1971 Paris Motor Salon, the 850 Especial Lujo (Special deLuxe) was presented, only available with the 4-door largo body.
Production ended in late 1974, having been replaced by the SEAT 133, essentially an 850 rebodied in the style of the 127. Sedans and the standard coupé received 843 cc four-cylinder engines with either 37 or 47 PS (27 or 35 kW).
After Fiat 850 production ceased in Italy in 1972, the SEAT version was sold in European countries through Fiat dealers for a couple of years. These cars had a Fiat badge which had "costruzione SEAT" underneath it."
SEAT 850 Sport
"The SEAT 850 Sport model was based on the Fiat 850 Coupé and Spider versions and was also available in two variants:
SEAT 850 Sport Spider, the convertible variant
SEAT 850 Sport Coupé and SEAT 850 Coupé, the two model versions of the coupé variant
The Sport Coupé and Spider versions were also built in Spain, although they were never exported. They were equipped with a 51 horsepower 903 cc engine as opposed to the lower powered, 843 cc standard cars."

SEAT 850

SEAT 127
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"The SEAT 127 is a supermini ( (also called B-segment across Europe, is a class of automobile larger than a city car but smaller than a small family car) produced by the Spanish automaker SEAT between the spring of 1972 and 1982, based on the Fiat 127.
Due to SEAT design policy, a four-door variant of the car (without a hatchback lid, in spite of the fastback roofline) was added to the lineup in 1973. While usually fitted with the same 903 cc engine as in the Fiat 127, SEAT also produced a unique variant of the 127 OHV engine. This had 1,010 cc instead of 903 cc and produced 52 PS (38 kW) rather than the 43 or 45 PS (32 or 33 kW) of the smaller unit.
(...)
When their licence from Fiat expired, SEAT redesigned some parts of the car and renamed it the SEAT Fura. Some design parts of this model were also used in the Ibiza mark 1. SEAT produced 1,238,166 units of the 127 between 1972 and 1982."

SEAT 127
Historia
