I was just walking by and I decided to take a street photo. If I had not spotted the letters 'FXR' on the engine then I would have not known that this is a HD Super Glide.

My '98 Harley FXD (before I hit a deer with it)

At the Texas - New Mexico border heading for Denver. A few hours later in Colorado, I hit a deer at 65 mph, skidded 268 feet, laid her down and did $7000 damage to the bike with nary a scratch on me as I somehow stayed on the high side and rode it like a sled. I should have bought some lotto tickets after that. She lives again but is now black like the Good Lord intended a Harley to be.

Well, I’d have loved to stay in #pittsboronc all day, but the open road beckons so off we go. One of my favorites rides takes us across #jordanlake at one of its prettiest stretches. Farrington Rd (not to be confused with the Faerrington of our second destination!) crosses the lake twice and, thanks to last summer’s paving project, is as smooth as butter! I wanted to take us onto Lystra Rd which has a few fun twisties, but it’s still closed while the #sinkhole repair is in progress. Darn. Maybe next time. Here’s a view of my #harleydavidson #Superglide. I’ve been riding since 2009, and have made some of my closest friends through motorcycling. Most people are surprised to find out I ride motorcycles (yes, pleural; I have a #sv650 back at the ranch). I love changing people’s perceptions of what motorcyclists look like (on another day, you might have seen my yoga mat strapped to the back!), as well as who can ride. I was terrified when I took my Motorcycle Safety Foundation course at Durham Technical College. However, I had two wonderful instructors and several supportive classmates who helped me gain confidence that has grown into a passion.
