I have been interested in skateboarding and skate culture for a while and decided it'd be interesting to try designing and painting my own skateboard deck. The design I made is in a superflat art style and features assorted coloured objects going in a gradient from red to blue, due to the random and abstract nature of the design I decided to name the piece 'Wonderland', which I then wrote overtop in kanji characters.

This is the engineering failure which made the camera inoperable (and a cheap buy). The mechanism uses special rivets with superflat heads, so the door can close properly. Screws have way too thick heads. How can I solve that? (No idea yet.)
The bellows was in good general condition so I cleaned outside with a slightly damp cloth (water+alcohol) then the edges were nurtured with shoe polish (= wax + pigment, I left it in closed form under the hot summer sun for a few hours). Inside the cloth is also in excellent form (cleaning with a tootbrush and compressed air was enough).

DOB's Journey
Takashi Murakami took about one month to create DOB in 1993 with the help of a frend who had bought a new Apple computer acting as an operator. With the changing times, DOB has undergone continual deformation, transformation, and proliferation in various forms. The character links pop culture and contemporary art, alluding to things such as the immaturity of Japanese society and the characters that have been mass-produced in postwar Japan's culture of consumption and imitation. DOB could be akin to a self-portrait of the artist or the embodiment of the Superflat スーパーフラット concept that Murakami advocated, which associated the "flatness" 平面性 of traditional Japanese painting ー which continued with anime and manga — with the classless social context of postwar Japan.
In this room, DOB literally travels through time, with DOB from the past appearing wearing modern clothes or a DOB we are seeing for the first time with a new look, or various types of DOB appearing together with Kaikai and Kiki, Yume Lion, Panda characters, or new characters.
Murakami says the reason Japan's character culture has developed and taken the world by storm 席巻した is because the anxious spirit 魂の震え of Japan, grounded in the sorrowfulness 悲哀 of a defeated country, strikes a chord with people. Murakami's characters may also represent modern-day "Mononoke" that have sensed the signs of a world undergoing turbulent changes 不穏に変化, with pandemics, wars, and other crises.

CLONE X x TAKASHI MURAKAMI #17495 Astronaut (2022) by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami is an acrylic painting on canvas mounted to an aluminum frame, on view at The Broad.
Merging Murakami’s Superflat vocabulary with RTFKT’s CLONE X digital-avatar universe, the work presents a stylized figure with rainbow “teeth,” kaleidoscopic eyes, and Murakami’s iconic smiling flowers. The hyper-smooth rendering evokes 3D animation and NFT culture, blurring boundaries between physical painting and virtual identity while reflecting Murakami’s broader interest in how contemporary characters, branding, and digital aesthetics shape new forms of portraiture.
The Broad, a contemporary art museum anchoring Grand Avenue’s cultural corridor, opened in 2015. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro with Gensler, it is defined by its “vault and veil” concept: a honeycomb-like exterior skin filtering daylight over a column-free gallery that houses more than 2,000 works from the Eli and Edythe Broad Collection. The museum focuses on postwar and contemporary art, including major pieces by Jeff Koons, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Yayoi Kusama.
