The Murakami exhibition @ MOCA. Man this exhibition was awesome. His art is very motivational and I got this book at the gift shop. Crazy influences of anime and japanese pop art bined together. Even if you're not into art ya'll should go. Ends on Feb. 8.

IB Exhibition piece for the theme of "Narcissism". Inspired by Roy Lichtenstein's pop art portraits of women in distress and Takashi Murakami, Field of smiling daisies, 2010, similar to emojis, I focused this piece on my facial expressions I made during dancing. These faces characterise my identity as a dancer on instagram. The colour and painting composition is inspired by Murakami's superflat compositions, where I overlapped and overcrowded my “emojis” to create the effect of being “full of oneself”.

Windmills are still very much part of the Dutch landscape - in former times, they were mostly used to grind flower, not for energy production like nowadays. The Netherlands are superflat (I think the tallest mountain is somthing like 200 feet, but I am sure one of my Dutch friends will correct me sooner or later), so, wind seems to be around a lot. This windmill is privately owned, and the guy keeps it up for historic reasons. If you look closely, you can see the miniature horses on the pasture....and a couple of miniature goats. And can you see the white sign at the bottom right of the picture? Check out the next photograph....
