Blind Box Win :D I rarely get the right thing in a Blind Box so I have pretty much stopped getting them, but these Hello Kitty Toki Doki pretty much all looked cute so I thought why not? Well the first one I got was the one I wanted! YAY :D hah
An old self portrait I never uploaded here -- not because I didn't like it, but because I couldn't find it (my teenage portfolio organization methodology was beyond a bit haphazard -- it was nothing short of labryinthine).
I took this standing on a graveyard wall at dusk the summer I was 16. See another photo from this shoot here.
My best friend Chris and I were Lana Del Rey superfans at the time, spending many nights a week either sitting in front of my open bedroom window -- or just outside it, on the rooftop...
...or rolling around on the floor on a huge synthetic polar-bear-skin-rug we lovingly named "the Ruphus thing" or some variation of that name, in reference to the huge, fluffly goldendoodle I had, who Chris had a special connection with.
The influence of Lana's music on these photos is palpable, especially in the photo I've linked above. ((The hotpants, though, are the result of my tweenage obsession with Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley -- over a decade later and I still think she had some of the most iconic outfits of all time).
so excited ... almost fell of my chair when in "Chronic City" the homless protagonist Biller strikes it rich in a Second Life type universe that may actually be more authentic than a Bloomberg era NYC ... what a writer Jon is !!! Ahhhh I am a superfan!

I was a the gray-haired traveling companion of my son, Nic, who is a Coldplay superfan. We had general admission tickets on the field where there was no seating, and we were about 20 feet from the stage. Rules for admission to the event restricted "professional" cameras with "interchangeable lenses", so I had to settle for an older pocket point-and-shoot (which has RAW capability). The show was quite a spectacle - kept thinking, though, about the possibilities with my current go-to camera (Canon R3) which spent a lonely evening at home (oh well).
The band and Chris Martin's positive, accepting and tolerant world view carried the evening and overflowed the stage, infecting the crowd with a serious case of good behavior. My son was over the top with excitement and even this old-guy had a blast, but I am likely to be finding confetti on my person for some time.

OK, so I read the group's rule where it stated "NO photos of cats, cows or any other animals!" So in protest... instead of campaigning for Milk... this is my take of what would happen if a lactose intolerate guy drinks 3 - 64fl oz of pure farm fresh milk and 3 pints of cream just to get the milk mustache right... I mean come on ... Oshin's my baby and no animal?!!
I wish the admin for Got Milk would change their policy / rule on no animal!

OK, let's get something straight whilst I have your attention, I do have your attention don't I? (taps the screen a couple of times) - I'm not some huge Rolling Stones superfan or anything, I just like the whole aggregates on the railways thing tied to a particular subject by my usual methods - the use of dreadful puns, wild assumptions, tortured metaphors and crazy hunches. I only know the same Stones songs as you do (y'know, just the hits) but I have a predilection for Wikipedia (and using big words it seems) and I'm not afraid to use it. Onwards...
DB's 66193 drags the usual wonderful collection of waifs and strays known as 6M20 10.38 Whatley to Churchyard sidings, St Pancras eastward out of the Stert Valley at the site of the old Patney and Chirton station. The station here and all others on the branch line, opened in 1857, to Holt junction, Melksham via Devizes closed in 1966. The section from Westbury to this point, just traversed by the 66, is known to all as part of the Berks and Hants line but in fact was not opened until 1900 as the Stert and Westbury Railway.
Speaking of old things, the unstoppable songwriting powerhouse of Jagger and Richards churned out 'Street Fighting Man' as part of 1968's 'Beggars Banquet' album. The track was inspired by Jagger's keen observation of various acts of civil disobedience and unrest around the world during the late 60s.
I don't really see Mick himself as the song's titular character, he's more of a lover than a fighter - as evidenced by his 19 children (that he knows of) and 37 grandchildren (and counting).

At hand though, LUGNuts' 22nd Build Challenge (from somewhere around late 2010) was titled 'Who's Your Big Daddy' - this was a challenge to build a car in the style of an automotive design legend who influences your own work, or who you admire. I didn't know at the time, but 'Big Daddy' is one of the terms used to describe Ed Roth himself (as an aside - I do believe that Ed Roth and his creations are a big influence on LUGNuts' founder Lino Martins).
Nonetheless, the Mysterion, shown here had been on my 'to do' list under this build theme since 2013. Finally built, it was a tricky car to reproduce, one of the reasons it had sat on the list for so long without making through to a build.
The Mysterion is one of Roth's most famous creations, and it has certainly passed the test of time - the bubble top and wheel design sets it build period, but otherwise, it looks like it could have been created last year. It is certainly a weird, but extremely well executed car.
LUGNuts was formed, in part, to see Lego replication of cars just like this, and it is certainly a fitting build, this October, on the LUGNuts' birthday anniversary.

Hoping Mack & company can bring back some of the former glory of the Bears defense this year (as Bears fan, I live perpetually in the year 1985).

This GO Ahead vehicle pitched up here in early May 2022, while the ex Stagecoach in Greater Manchester vehicle 20896 R896XVM that has been living here at the East Kent Light Railway in Shepperdswell near Dover since October 2021 was parked behind me, and a Thank You to my good freind and long time EKLR Volunteer Alfie Powell for telling me that these vehicles are still living here, and Alfie says that these vehicles may see future use here as "Rail Replacement Buses" for when EKLR Trains break down.

Maybe it was too far for the British XXX Corps, but not for the armed forces of Da Bearz. This photo captures the moment at which the Superfans, Da Bearz crack special forces squad, captured the far end of the John Frost bridge with the aid of an M60 Payton superheavy tank destroyer, liberating The Netherlands.
The M60 Payton is one of the latest weapons in Da Bearz arsenal. It boasts the following armaments:
Main gun: 155mm/L55 rifled gun, capable of firing APFSDS, HEAT, and HESH rounds.
Secondary guns: A pair of forward-mounted 40mm autocannons, in ball turrets fanking the main gun.
Commander's gun: A quad 12.7mm machine gun.
Anti-air: A pair of armored box launchers, each with 4 AIM-72 "Fridge" anti-air missiles.

The RPV4000 "Helmet Mobile" is a remotely piloted mobile assault gun, used by the crack Superfans infantry squad to open a Ditka-sized can of whoopass on their enemies. It features a 4-barrel "Jimbo Covert" rotary cannon and a pair of "Gary Fencik" mini-missile launchers.
