This was the most crowded place I saw in my two days at the height of the bloom.
Temblor Range, Carrizo Plain. March 25, 2019, and quick hurry to see the bloom before it fades!
The superbloom exceeded my wildest imagination. Even my camera couldn't handle the number.
This is 4 shot focus stacked photo to increase the depth of field.
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in southeastern California exploded with color after recent rains. This four-shot panorama represents a small part of acres and acres of wildflowers to the northeast of Borrego Springs. The rare show drew many visitors.
The pink flowers are desert sand verbena. The white ones are evening primrose. The yellows are desert sunflowers.

"Superbloom at Saguaro NP" by Patti Deters. Tall saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea) fill a low desert wash basin and are surrounded by the vibrant yellow wildflowers of Brittlebush (Encelia farinosa). The pretty desert scene is set against a backdrop of the distant Tucson mountains under a partly cloudy sky, with a bit of a sunburst shining down. This particular view was found in Tucson Mountain District of Saguaro National Park in Arizona, USA at GPS: 32°15'5.5512N, 111°11'36.0672W. Thank you for viewing this desertscape super bloom. Over the weekend, I flew to Vegas and drove 2hrs west for my first visit to Death Valley. Hearing the buzz on social media, and having always wanted to visit, it seemed like this "once in a lifetime" event would be worth checking out, and I'm glad to say it was pretty impressive! Apparently the best bloom in the park's history was back in 2005, so perhaps this is going to be the 2nd best in history?
While Death Valley has an average rainfall of about 2" per year, this past October, a month when the area usually gets 0.1" of rain, a storm dumped 2.7" of rain. The storm was billed as a 1,000-year storm and caused flash flooding and road closures. Bad news for October, great news for February wildflower blooms!

I wonder if it’s age, experience, or simply the pursuit of capturing the otherworldly, photography for me is a storytelling gateway, a portal to faraway worlds where the sacred feminine and nature coexist in harmony, embraced and protected 🌿🌱

For the first two images, I used the Celestial Backdrops from my store. Digital backdrops really help me bring some magic to the studio work. It’s honestly a little addictive!
