The Dutch car registration office RDW speaks about a DS 21 when you fill in this license number, although the rear emblem says 'D Super 5'.

Well, the D Super 5 does have the same engine as the 1968-1972 DS 21.

I have reasons to believe that this R5 was once belonging to the famous and at the same time mysterious 'Utrecht collection'. And that's because I found this car on a public car park in Zeist together with lot's of other rather neglected 1980s cars which I do recognize from this collection. This collection has been cleared in 2019. Many cars have unfortunately ended up in a junkyard in Roosendaal (NL).

About two years earlier I was here in Zeist for the first time. Many cars didn't move an inch since then.

Inmiddels is de tweede generatie Renault 5 (1984 - 1996), ook wel bekend als de Supercinq, al een youngtimer.

Althans, we delen dezelfde naam. De kerk heet namelijk Église Saint-Maurice, gelegen aan de Parvis Saint-Maurice. Sint-Mauritiuskerk in het Nederlands, maar dat klinkt toch net wat minder leuk.

At least, we share the same name. The church is called Église Saint-Maurice, located on the Parvis Saint-Maurice. Sint-Mauritiuskerk in Dutch, but that sounds a bit less fun.

Inmiddels toch wel al een klassieker, heel af en toe kom je er nog wel eens eentje tegen in het straatbeeld. In Frankrijk heb je sowieso een grotere kans nog een Supercinq te zien.

Lille / Rijsel, Frankrijk

Meanwhile already a classic, very occasionally you will come across it in the street scene. In France you have a better chance of seeing a Supercinq anyway.

I was already running late for work, so stopping for a quick shot of this tidy, high-spec 5 wasn't going to do much harm was it?

Not one I can recall seeing around before, DVLA says it's on SORN but has just had a new MoT. Dealer sticker visible in the rear window for East Bilney Garage (still in business selling Renault). Not immediately local to where I saw it, but still in the same county.

This 2nd generation R5 was completely restyled for 1984. It was designed by Marcello Gandini.

The Super5 was also assembled in Palencia, Spain.
