MY GAMBIAN holiday has gone quickly, without leaving my cottage and not a hint of a suntan. Am very concerned over all our friends out there, who are now not getting any income whatsoever. hope we will see them next Jan when we have rebooked. Back to UK Garden and Local birds tomorrow..
SQUACCO HERON, favors freshwater fringes, flooded fields ponds, and mangrove swamps. Generally solitary stands motionless at the water's edge or tall grassy vegetation where it is difficult to detect. Hope you have enjoyed them.

Owling was on fire in AZ this trip we saw Spotted Owls, Western and Whiskered Screech-Owls, Elf Owls and Northern Pygmy-Owls. Ran out of time to go looking for Flams and Burrowing this trip. But we did get good views of Buff-collared Nightjar and Mexican Whip-poor-wills! :D

People were suntanning outside even though it's only mid-March. New buds growing along a wall decided to pop out of the ground. My own textures added.
More northern sparrows are moving into the Driftless region now as October approaches. This sweet little white-throated sparrow is either working on a suntan or trying to warm up on a chilly Sunday morning.

Cleo obviously made the best of the nice weather today and enjoyed a nap in the sun. How perfect that my sister had forgotten her yoga mat on the porch .... :)
Our big old Mowgli enjoying some afternoon sun. He passed away last year after sharing 16 years of love and affection. Mowgli was always in the house or enjoying the sun in the yard, until one day he disappeared. We posted pictures, searched the neighborhood but no luck. About three or four months later we got a call from the local SPCA telling us to come pick him up. We were in shock to say the least. They identified him by the chip he had. He did look completely wild and feral and had been found about five miles from where we live, across a main road. Must have been quite an adventure!

Still very warm and humid, occasional thunderstorms don't make it any better. Linus copes better with the humidity than with the heat. He won't stay in the sun for long although he loves the lounger for a nap. A suntan is rather unlikey with all that fur anyway. :)

At this time of year you rarely see Cleo outdoors because it's usually much too cold for her taste. This afternoon was sunny and quite warm, though, and Cleo enjoyed a little sunbath on the porch. She looked quite relaxed although the busy tail told me that she wasn't happy about the fact that I pointed the camera at her precious tummy.
