The strange appearance of white dust that began to coat Sunstone Pass, and rumors of explorers and scouts going missing amongst the mountain, sparked rumors and fear.
One such rumor was of a huge giant that roamed the mountain, leaving snapped trees and sundered earth in its wake.
It was mere rumor until one pair of explorers came face to face with the creature.
Only one returned, with the horrifying explaination for the fine white ash of the pass.
It was bone. Bones of the unfortunate souls who encountered this mountain giant, smashed and pulverized until they were nought but sprinkled white amongst the mountainside.
People abandoned the mountain, lest they run across the giant, now known as Tor'vag, and find themselves strewn across Stonesun Pass.
Mt. Aktet has not been scaled since. It and the pass belong to Tor'vag now.
At Christmas I took a special present for my parents' cats. Miss Pepper designated herself to be the representative for the cats.
A trio of gold and teal polymer clay rondells are kept company by a lovely set of faceted sunstones and aventurines. Separated by goldpalted washers and round beads this rich assembly ends off with a pretty pewter toggle. Approx 7-1/2" from end to end

These Swallows are plentiful at Hunters Hot Spring Resort just outside Lakeview Oregon. We stayed here during our Sunstone dig at Spectrum Mines. I loved the birds on the old window. I am obsessed with old.

This early 16th Century Aztec sculpture has been referred to as the Calendar Stone, because some scientists believe the carvings represent the Aztec calendar. Another theory is that the face at the center of the stone represents Tonatiuh, the Aztec deity of the sun. It is for this reason that the stone became known as the "Sun Stone." As seen at the Museo Nacional de Antropología (National Museum of Anthropology) in Mexico City.

On my visit to México City in 2008, I was in the amazing Museum of Anthropology, I must say it was a remarkable experience. Among others, I photographed this Aztec sculpture that depicts the granite stone of The Aztec Calender or Calendario Azteca, displayed permanently in the Aztec seccion of The Anthropology Museum, Mexico City. The face in the center of the disk represents the sun god "Tonatiuh"
Mabel and Mario, fighting over a Sunstones cat toy. They both wanted it and would temporarily gain custody of it, until the other would attack the first for it again.
(I am confident this is Mario because this series was photographed on the day Sammy and Luigi were neutered.)
It snowed another 6 inches or more last night and today and it is still snowing! I am so tired of winter already.
Also, I have a small photo shoot later this evening. It should be a fun one.
First off, thank you so much, SunStones, for the package of homemade catnip toys. The whole crew is grateful for the gift, me included. I have some adorable photos of my felines with them to post, but tonight I am posting this photo for Gumbo's 52 weeks. And, for some reason, I have decided to portray Gumbo as he really is: just a little off. I was lying on my side taking photographs and used the stack of balls as my guide rather than the lines in the background, but I somehow think the photo illustrates my boy well. At least it makes me smile. I'm not aiming for perfection. If I were, I wouldn't post SOOC. Or, more likely, I wouldn't post at all. Instead I use photography to illustrate life in our home just as it is. Yes, just a little off.

Several of my Flickr contacts have photos in their stream that show their cats enjoying these toys from SunStones. The photographs are beautiful and are the best possible testimonials for the these catnip balls. I couldn't let my cats be the only ones without the latest cool toys.
Do you think anyone will want to buy these toys after seeing Mack enjoying them?
I'm sorry for the low quality of the pictures, but my place gets shade in the afternoon and so indoor shots have to be taken in low light.

Captain Sunstone was granted her superpowers from a mysterious stone that came to Earth on a small meteorite. Her powers include invulnerability, flight and the ability to create and harness solar energy and use it for laser beams, energy blasts, energy shields and many other things. She leads the League of Superheroines with her twin sister.
This is a shot of beautiful Sunstone winery in Santa Ynez, California. I love this winery for the ambience (and their wine isn't too bad either). It sits on a lovely hillside surrounded by oak trees. The courtyard, where you can sit and sip a glass of wine, is filled with rosemary and lavender. Inside, there is a gorgeous wine cave. All in all, a very worthwhile stop!

I painted the hair and the sunstone. Mouse-painting. I used Michelle Black's Funky Action on the finished piece and it gave it the light green and yellow hues.
Troy NY may not be technically the rust belt, but for me, anywhere whose downtown is full of these brownstones, and used to have heavy industry, is an honorary member.
I think they look cool :)
As you can see, he also loves the catnip toys sent by Sunstones. He spends most of his days out in the cat enclosure right now that's why he is not on my photo stream very often lately.
