Bernard specialises in Western Traditional and Japanese inspired tattooing with his own signature Hong Kong flair. The work he does with both colour and black in grey is absolutely mind blowing! Bernard apprenticed under Mike Wilson, who was also mentor to other tattooing greats such as Greggletron and our very own Milky. All of these artists have an absolutely bonkers brain when it comes to their tattoo concepts, it seems Mike sure knows how to pick 'em!

Manawa Tapu specialises in traditional Maori tattooing, or Ta Moko. He began his journey into Maori art with Whakairo, or wood carving. Known for his contemporary, well thought Ta Moko, including the use of Tāniko and Tukutuku patterns, Tristan is always pushing himself to create beautiful artwork that honours his Maori heritage and helps preserve traditional Maori artwork.

Koi back piece by Tom Tom 🌊
Epic Japanese koi and peony back piece by Tom Tom for the lovely Emily - there's also a cover up in there! Large scale tattoos such as body suits look amazing on everyone, they are absolutely not gender specific. Using either full background as seen in Emily's back piece, or negative space are options depending on the finished look you're aiming for.
Japanese tattoos work really well as cover ups, as they are bright, bold, solid tattoos that will last a lifetime. You also have a range of size options, and cover ups generally have to be a decent amount bigger than the existing tattoo.

One shot cover up mermaid for the lovely (and super tough!) Kirsty by our American traditional artist Milky! Sooooo so good!!
We get a lot of requests for cover ups at the studio, and although every case is different, the general rule of thumb is that you've got to go bright, bold, solid and usually big for a cover up to work successfully. As you can see here, Milky did a fantastic job! Styles such as American traditional, Japanese and solid black work are ideal for cover ups. Certain styles aren't recommended, as they require a lot of negative skin space. The more you know 🤔
If you've got an old tattoo that you're thinking about getting covered up, the best thing you can do is think about what you want to cover it with. Then check out artists work who specialise in the mentioned styles, and book in for a consult to discuss your ideas in greater detail #sunsettattoonz

Horiyama painted this super cute Neko (cat) and Kagami (mirror) 😽 Loving the black background on these recent paintings she has produced! Cats are said to be a symbol of good luck in Japan, with many establishments placing a Maneki-Neko (lucky cat) at the entrance.

Painted by the lovely Magali Corpas on Day 6 of isolation: "I know you are all binge watching Tiger King while mindless scrolling through the gram". We love this work, and all the gorgeous personal detail Magali has included in this idyllic scene. One of the coolest pieces of isolation art that we've seen so far!
This painting was Magali's contribution to Stef Bastian's charity auction called Front Line. All funds raised went to hospitals around the world who were hit the hardest by Covid-19.
