Sunset seen from the harbor quay at the lighthouse (Est. 1822) of Hellevoetsluis. Always the beautiful view of an inspiring broad horizon that no day is the same.

The lighthouse symbolizes the home port of Hellevoeters, now part of the city logo. Also as a location in the history of famous Dutch Navy commanders and admirals such as Piet Heyn, Maarten Tromp and Michiel de Ruiter. With historical events such as the arrival of the "zilvervloot" in 1629, the departure point for the Battle of Chatham in 1667, where William III departed with Mary in 1688 to ascend the thrones of England, Scotland and Ireland. Hellevoetsluis was therefore the naval base of the Admiralty of the Maze and has long been the most important naval port in the Netherlands. Numerous historically authentic traces still bear witness to this.

Vuurtoren Hellevoetsluis (monument, Est. 1822) - the Lighthouse of Hellevoetsluis is a round, white, brick lighthouse with two floors and a height of 18.1 meters. The tower was equipped with three parabolic reflectors that bundled the light using an isophase of 10 seconds, 5.0 sec light, 5.0 sec. dark. Although the tower is no longer in use as a beacon, the light has not been officially extinguished and the lighthouse is still one of about thirty active light houses in the Netherlands.

This lighthouse is located at the harbor entrance of Hellevoetsluis, a former Northsea harbor navel base along the wide waters of the Haringvliet. A location where many national moments of history took place.
