After shooting the night sky till 4:00am at Ancient Bristlecone Forest, Wayne dropped me at my campsite where I quickly found a nice spot within walking distance of my camp and plunked down to wait out the sunrise. It was somewhat difficult to fight off the increasing urge to fall asleep, but I could tell it was going to be colorful one with these thin wispy clouds drifting by. That’s the one of the worst things about landscape photography, the sleep deprivation, especially when your trying to photograph sunrises and sunsets and also shoot nightscapes. It’s extremely rewarding though, when the sky fills with color and your sitting there ready to shoot it. I photographed for about an hour and then passed out on my cot until I woke 4hrs. later in the direct sunlight. Time to do it all over again but at a new destination, I've been on the road 4 days and still have 4 more days to go.

FYI: Mt. Whitney is the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states, and rises like the phoenix from the western rim of the Great Basin Desert of California. At an elevation of 14, 495 feet, Whitney looms high above Death Valley, which is the lowest point in North America at 262 feet below sea level, less than 100 miles to the east.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great Sunday!! :)

This is the same flower as the one I posted yesterday, but taken at a lower pov and with a different focus. Here the sun is the focus instead of the flower and I filtered it to bring out the sunshine. This might be what my friend Gunta has suggested to be a flowerscape rather than a flower shoot! Which one appeal to you more?

The Jardin des Tuileries is a public garden located between the Louvre Museum and the Place de la Concorde. The Place du Carrousel is a part of the garden facing the Louvre museum. Here, the Louvre museum can be seen in the background of this image.

It was a cloudy day in Kiel, undeterred I went for my morning exercise. When I was almost done, I saw the sky lited up in amazing colours and coincidentally an unknown sculpture was right next to me. This was what I saw! What do you think?

The Altare della Patria, also known as the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II, is a monument built in honour of Victor Emmanuel, the first king of a unified Italy. It occupies a site between the Piazza Venezia and the Capitoline Hill. The monument holds the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with an eternal flame, built under the statue of goddess Roma after World War I.

One of the advantages of discovering the Galapagos on a cruise is that the sunrise and sunset are just a few steps away from your cabin. How can you resist that?

The Arch of Constantine is a triumphal arch located next to the Colosseum. It would be difficult to capture this Arch without including the Colosseum. The arch was erected in 315AD to commemorate Constantine I's victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Melvin Bridge. Have a great weekend!

in harsh light, shoot in the shade or indoors; if hard shadows fall over the subject, pop some strobe in there. Do something interesting, make any lighting situation work for you-it can, if you do it creatively :-)

Sunrises and sunsets in Africa are unforgettable moments. Images that we are so fond of that are kept forever in our memories.

At the time I took this shot, back in 2013, I just had a D300 that I was using on a full auto mode, shooting simple JPEG’s. No full-frame, no filters, no tripod, no bracketing, no RAW files, no post-processing, etc.

Today, when I revisit those images I deeply regret that, because now there isn’t much that I can do to post-process them. But, even with all those limitations, some of them are so impressive in their utter beauty, that with the help of a new software that gives some extra latitude in post-processing JPEG’s, I’ve decided to post this sunset photo.

Looking at it, you will certainly realize why I’m so fond of these memories, even if the image's tech specs aren't stunning (a sensor of just 12 megapixel, limited dynamic range and ISO management, ...),

"You are close to me in mind and soul

but so far away

from one sunrise to the next……

even farther from the next sunset…..

i can feel you with my eyes closed…

i can see your warn breath graze my skin

wanting to touch you with my full heart…..

and hold you so close to my soul

Tonight and every night…

I shall dream of you.

under the glow of a moon’s light

i want to breathe you in

and taste your lips as yours kiss the sins on mine."

Another HDR panorama of 6 shots from Lofoten, Norway.

Now, when I look at the photo I can see even more poetic feeling than I could see at the moment of shooting. Truly, the sunrises and sunsets are the best and just fabulous time for the photography.

Thank you for all the comments and favs, my friends.

Evening light in the surf. Today it was rainy. I'm waiting for good conditions for sunrise and sunsets.

...................

The light is capricious, sometimes the sky acquires a beautiful caramel color, that's why this series of photos of sunrises and sunsets refers to "bites of light".

"Diluting the mist"

I awoke when the night was still a black mouth of despair, then, little by little, the light domesticated the thoughts, I wove a network of certainties that allows me to walk on the sharp and insecure edge of sanity. The day advances and you dilute yourself, just a silhouette, you stay under the layers of time. You stretch far and far away, you dilute yourself. Get out of the mist, break the blindness of not knowing, of not understanding.

Mount Kirkjufell and falls (Kirkjufellfoss) has been the place that was photographed by the countless people. Simply searching on Flickr alone resulted hundreds, if not thousands, of the photos taken at this place. No wonder it becomes an icon in Iceland. However, I can hardly find two photos identical. By rendering various sky, clouds, sunrise and sunset conditions, mother nature let us take a photo at an unique moment. Probably, this is the reason why people continue taking their photos at this iconic place years after years.

There is no "night" at this time of the year in Iceland. Sunset was at 12:00 am and sunrise at 2:30 am. The photo was taken around 11:30 pm.

"Where the sky and the river merge ... Where the colors of sunrises and sunsets are brighter than dreams, where the Lord sees ..."

Prohodna Cave is one of the most famous and easily accessible caves in Bulgaria. It is located 2km away from the village of Karlukovo in a picturesque area with natural beauties and historical sights. The cave is a natural rocky bridge with a length of 262 m. There are 2 entrances - large and small. From the small entrance with a height of about 35 m, a path passes through the entire cave and goes through the big entrance (the largest cave in Bulgaria - 45m).

The cave is naturally illuminated by the huge entrances and natural openings in the attic - two holes. The holes that makes the cave unique. Located side by side, with the same almond-shaped shape, looks amazingly like huge eyes that seem to be staring at visitors. It is no coincidence that the local population calls them "the eyes of the Lord" and sometimes the "Devil's Eyes". Viewed at a certain angle, they even look like a face looking down, and in wet weather they seem to hey cry. Faced with this natural phenomenon, one remains amazed and slightly excited - the incredible symmetry and layout of the eye brings awe and a sense of mystery. The cave was declared a natural landmark in 1962.

Any season has its own photographical highlights. In the spring time, these are blossoms, sunrises and sunsets during the summer and in autumn fog and the colours. The winter is standing for minimalism, because during the winter in nature all is about to reduce everything to its necessarily minimum to keep enough recources for a new start in spring. If anyone of You is wondering if I deleted the sky, I didn't. On that evening sky was probably sold out, the same as colours.

This photo and the last one are a sequence of sunrise event.

Probably within 10~15 mins from the last photo.

This is the most red moment. And it's a parrot colour 🐦

After this, the red colour was fading away but the atmosphere became much brighter.

Morning blue hour to sunrise and sunset to evening blue hour are very short and critical moments. The changes are amazing.

MORNING HAS BROKEN - Cat Stevens (Lyrics) Youtube

Sunrises and sunsets in Botswana are often magnificent. It is truly an untamed paradise where wilderness prevails, not big cities or big concentrations of people.

If you are traveling in Tuscany, especially here in Val D'orcia, you will quickly see what your biggest problem is. It's to decide what you don't want to photograph.

So far we've focused on a few particularly spectacular locations at particular times of the day (sunrise and sunset) where it's hard to avoid the results being extraordinarily beautiful.

But when you're on your way to such places and just want to get from A to B, you're driving through a landscape that really keeps calling out to you: "Stop !! Take pictures !!!"

Then it's the middle of the day and you come across a view like this, for example.

You just can't get ahead because you keep stopping, walking back and HAD to take a picture.

I chose two of these "snapshots" for today and tomorrow (which was the next challenge) to make this clear to you.

Oh yes ... sometimes it's not easy :-)

Uluru or Ayers Rock is reputedly Australia's second biggest tourist attraction after the Great Barrier Reef. Sunrise and sunset are constant feature of our daily life, happens everyday and it's unique beyond recognition, sunset is a reminder, one more day have elapsed, are we any closer to our goals?

As every landscape photographer knows, sunrise and sunset are totally unpredictable moments. This evening on the Moraine Lake rock pile, it turned out pretty weird but nonetheless a keeper.

TODAY. Lost, somewhere between sunrise and sunset, two elegantly crafted golden hours, each set with sixty diamond minutes. No reward will be offered, for they are lost forever.

Spent today in Laguna Beach shooting with friend and fellow Flickr photographer Matt Straite. We originally planned to drive down to La Jolla in San Diego but the radar was showing heavy cloud coverage in that area, so we decided to bail on the 2+ hour drive and shoot locally. We headed out down the freeway and about half way there it started raining fairly heavy, but we ignored it and talked tech the whole way there. About 10 miles from the beach the rain subsided and after about a hour the cloud cover started breaking up to show some nice blue sky. We arrived on location and were surprised by how high the tide was. I had checked the tide chart before departure and it showed that at sunset the tide would already be receding about 1 meter, which gave us a very limited shooting area and and an occasional splash dash.

Matt and I staked our claim and watched as the sky burst into color, We both looked at each other and pulled an instant high five. We knew it was going to be grand.

I have shot this tower before but have never had the opportunity to shoot it with the sun in the scene, mainly because I had never heard of "The Photographer's Ephemeris". This app is a great resource for sunrise and sunset mes as well as angle of arrival and departure. It was nice knowing where the sun was going to be before I arrived at a location, although I was off a bit on the tide level it didn't stop Matt and I from grabbing some rad shots.

Matt's an experienced photographer that know's his stuff!! You can view his stream at this address. Thanks Matt, Had a great time yesterday. Looking forward to our next photoquest. :)

I was out yesterday just scouting for new places, and I think this place can be of interest both in sunrise and sunset. This one was captured midday with the Lee big stopper.

It was like fire dropped and lit up the sky! I have seen many beautiful sunrises and sunsets over my life, but this one was very special. My wife and I took a bit of a jaunt down to OBX on Thanksgiving morning and my were we ever rewarded! As I look back upon the year, there were many joys and many hardships, but the one thing that I know for sure was that the LORD was always faithful to us!

Days pass by, years pass by as well. Life goes on no matter what we think of it. Life that gives us these wonderful days, sunrises and sunsets.

We visited our good old friends in Nizhny Novgorod - "the city of sunsets". And I wish everybody to have that possibility. To meet friends, to enjoy the life, to be alive and to watch the sunsets.

Thank you for all the comments and faves, dear friends. Stay safe!

YOU'RE GONNA BE OK – BRIAN & JENN JOHNSON

I wonder if the doctors want to

put me in a cardboard box

tidy their files and empty their drawers

make more room for their Winter stocks

take my hope and condemn me

to a life without a reason

to a darkness with no light

just Winter and no other season

but that is no life for someone like me

I need to fly; need to feel the breeze

need the sunlight to bring my freckles out

need the ocean within in me for my heart's ease

I never want to leave this world

worse off than when I found it

I want to plant and sow and grow

beautiful ideals and find my fit

for I am always on a mission

to bring the light to brighten your eyes

and I never mean to bring you down

but the honesty in me can never lie

I bring to you all that I am

raw, exposed and dutiful

I hope to be the mirror in which you see

yourself so bold and beautiful

I long to hug you close to me

to kiss your cheek and take your hand

for you are the one who sets me free

accompanies me across a once forgotten land.

Sorry I have been a bit quiet. I have been having further tests for the past week and today received the results. All is very, very well. Not perfect, but then I don't do perfect! ; 0) Seems that one of my doctors gave me the worst case scenario somewhat prematurely … now I have the chance to prevent his diagnosis ever becoming a reality! I didn't know it was possible to be over the moon and furious simultaneously! ; 0)))) I have always to take good care of myself. Not everything can be completely fixed, but for now, I am very, very happy and will continue to improve on today's results!! Thank you for your wonderful support, dear friends. I wish you a very happy weekend! xx

A view at Orlando Wetlands - The Orlando Wetlands Park is a man-made wetland designed to provide advanced treatment for reclaimed water from the City of Orlando and other local cities. The Park is 1650 acres in size and located in Christmas, Florida. Visitors can visit the Park seven days a week, between sunrise and sunset, to enjoy primitive and passive activities including: Photography, Wildlife viewing, Hiking, Biking, Horseback riding and Guided Tours.

I frequently go to this park as it is nearby and it is rich in scenery and wildlife.

We had a few glorious sunrises and sunsets during the second week I was in Norfolk. This wee barn, amongst the stubble, was on my doorstep so it was rude not to revisit a few times. The stormy skies rolled in in the evening just as the sun was setting. It was like a scene from the US when I went storm chasing a few years ago.

… like sunrises and sunsets. So, don't miss too many of them :-)

I cannot count the times I have been here during both sunrise and sunset and each time it is a complete new experience. This week, like many other photographers lined up right in front of the Cappella, I am waiting for the sun behind us to go down and throw its magic on the clouds and sky. Nothing happens. All have already long gone and I am still waiting. Soon I too give up, pack my stuff and start moving towards the back path. At that point I turn around and freeze!
