Great colours in the sky to be had at Dungeness but a little bland in terms of a horizon - but came away very happy all the same.

Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand ...

... first visit to Pulau Pinang after 20 years ... initially went to Telok Tempoyak, but found that it was facing more towards the east, hence more suitable for sunrise shots. Drove around a bit towards Bayan Lepas, saw the beach and sun setting, navigated by instincts heading sundown, 'squeezed' in through a maze of small roads, saw the sea, parked the car by the roadside and walked towards the beach ...
... i managed to get a few good lucky ones ;) ...

... after a very stormy and rainy week, the sky cleared up and the sun came out... selected 'attractions' on the GPS near the in-laws and 'bukit melawati' came up. Cool, time for some sunporn :)
first impressions:
- u can't drive uphill on the weekends and public holidays. a good 15min walk ... the roads are open again to the public at 7pm ...
- mmm far too many tourists, foreign and local. can be suffocating ...
- the view is so-so and ok for me ... would be much better if there was a higher looking point to get a clearer view of the sea ...
- don't walk alone when going downhill at 7.45pm ... there are some 'spooky things' in the trees, i kid u not. if u do and if something 'follows', 'hisses', 'breaths', 'giggles' and 'growls' at u ... do what i do: ignore, step back slowly and RUN!
hihi i love sunrises more ... so i'm biased :)

- lil' sunshine was having her regular morning karaoke sessions and woke me up :)
- ... browsed 'attractions' on the GPS and selected 'Tasik Biru' (Blue Lake) which was (according to the thingy) ~6km from where i was staying ... cool, let's do the naughty thang, ie sunporn
- road a bit bumpy ... a lot of lorries, dark low lit roads ... but still manageable for the spyder ...
- caught the first light at 6.30am with no other human being in sight ....
- was startled by the sound of loud splashes in the area hahaha having watched 'lake placid' and 'rogue' the previous two nights on Astro, i was ready to run :)
disarmonia mundi ... something to really keep u alert and awake ...

UPDATE:
A word of caution at Tasik biru (the one nearby Rawang right?), i've been there a few times catching PB's and have sighted a crocodile swimming in the lake in 3 of my outings at tasik biru, the bugger looks big maybe 12-13 footer.

Genting Highlands (Malay: Tanah Tinggi Genting; Chinese: 雲頂高原) (About 1850m above sea level 3°25′22.31″N 101°47′36.22″E) is a mountain peak within the Titiwangsa Mountains on the border between the states of Pahang and Selangor of Malaysia and is home to a famous mountain resort by the same name which can be reached by car from Kuala Lumpur in one hour. It is also accessible by the world's fastest and South East Asia's longest cable car called Genting Skyway (3.38km).
Genting Highlands is also home to a 100 million year old forest.
