how great is it , when on holiday you finally get the occasion of putting your bikini or putting on a swimshort so you can enjoy the sun and the water, but unfortunate not for everybody, some people just obey rules from more than a thousand years ago , long before sunblockers and special sunlotions existed nor was there electricity
,cellphone ,cars, television or fridges , people do adapt to the new technology , but some do only on those that are in there interest , some old rules can't be changed because else there comfortable system would collapse , why can't there be freedom for everybody to enjoy the few days of good weather we have in a year ????

Been getting down in the low thirties in southern California a deep freeze for us.My neighbors brought back a ice chest full of snow from the mountains an hours drive from the beach. This little man is only two feet tall but full of character. He's got his sunlotion on and you can't see the sandals he's sporting. Even snowmen and women like the beaches in San Diego, He may not last long in our 40 degree weather but he's got his mojo on and is ready to catch some waves and have a California holiday party.
We arrived home this morning around 3:30am from our holiday in Tenerife ~ beautiful sunshine and lovely and warm. Well, no surprise ... it's been overcast and in comparison much cooler than the last two weeks!
We used lots of sun lotion to protect ourselves from that warm sunshine but hopefully I'll be needing to use this at home, soon!!

Mac's Brewbar (and other establishments with outdoor seating) offer sunscreen in Wellington in case you forgot yours.
On my recent holiday to Turkey, we visited Pamukkale - or Cotton mountain. An area where warm, lime-saturated water has flown down over the cliffs for ages, creating these impressive white waves. Very fascinating to walk around in the warm waters in this area.
The white formations look soft, but you're required to walk barefooted, so you notice, that they're actually very hard and with sharp ripples at places.
As René points out, parts of the area is built up in concrete - you can see one of the concrete pools to the left in this image. Earlier people walked all over the place, enjoyed the natural pools and the sun, but by and by the white got tainted with sunlotion, sweat and skin residues, so they closed most of the area off and built some concrete pools where people can walk. You can see that it's man-made of course, but it's already covered in white, so it's quite effective.
The shot is a pano of two portrait-format shots, stitched with Hugin, finalized using Gimp.
Getting ready to be out and about in the warm sunshine!! Next Thursday, we are all off to Tenerife in the Canary Islands for a couple of weeks!
Five grandchildren, their mums and dads and my good wife and myself .... think I'll be out and about walking! Plenty adults to look after the little ones! 😉
