#What'ForDinner?
I made Sunday lunch.
A huge turkey leg, roasted to perfection, and sliced, a slice or two of sausage meat, wonderful Maris Piper roast potatoes, carrots, peas, a snowy white cauliflower, and of course, lashings of gravy.
Yum! 😋.

We had a weekend in Leicester! Many many years since I had been out in Leivester.
Sunday dinner at a fantastic pub, the Old Horse in Leicester. They had an amazing carvery on!
I wispered your name.
You heard me, but you could not locate me.
I wispered "Sunday roast" but still, you felt no threat, nor were you able to find me.
I was above. Far above. Aiming at you.
But you are innocent.
Live on, Bambi.
They did not change much compared to they dinosaur relatives. Chilling in the sunshine the whole day makes them seem super lazy. The more impressive it is to see them on the hunt.

28th April 2019:
Weather dreadful, so it was back to our Sunday lunch, we didn't have pork last week!!
Roast pork, boiled potatoes with Basque stir fried veg. We did have apple sauce and mustard too, but didn't bother with gravy as the veg is in a very good sauce.
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)

Having wandered around London yesterday on a very sore knee, today is a rest day. So we went for a bog standard Sunday Lunch ... this was their normal sized roast dinner and I was asked if I wanted to "go large", to which I declined. I couldn't eat all this so heaven knows how anyone eats a bigger meal.
Anyways, the OH has poured me another glass of vino and I shall soon be in my armchair and watching a film to fall asleep to :)

We had a roast beef last night. It was nostalgic for both of us, as this was our Sunday night dinner every week of our childhood. Nowadays we hardly ever eat beef, much less a Sunday roast.
Porchetta I made a few weeks ago.
This was the recipe I followed: www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/porchetta_53969
The pork was from Castlegate Farm Shop in Stoney Middleton.
Angus beef top sirloin roast, with baked potato, glazed carrots, Brussels sprouts, and a red wine mushroom sauce. It was excellent! Btw, I’m from Texas, so the British term “Sunday Roast” is not used here in my part of the world but I sure do like it!

Despite me still standing by English food's inferiority compared to French cuisine, I still heart a lot of English dishes. The roast has to be one of them, tender slices of roast beef with gravy, Yorkshire pudding & veges.
Oh so damn satisfying! An awesome lunch at Sutherland's Pub, highly recommended if you're in Bowness on the Lake, not far from Lake Windermere itself.
did not get one of these today but this was from a few weeks ago when me rockcake and Carmbler® visited the prest residence and was treated to lovely roast cooked by mrs presty. After the this marvelous meal we went the pub and on are return we where feed chicken and stuffing sandwiches, yum yum thanks mrs presty
Not a day to be outside.
luckily this started 10min after me and Sarah had been the farm shop to get our Sundayroast veg :)
Taken on this great British day today (Sunday 23rd August) for the 2009YIP group......can't beat a propper Sunday roast!
The conundrum being...not how do I get such incredible Yorkshire's (I unfortunately make around 200 a week) but what the hell is the massive obsession with roast dinners?!!! I just don't get it, it is in essence just meat, veg, gravy and an over-zealous pancake. People get all culty about it, and it's WEIRD! like it is the most important thing in the world on Sunday, and if we dare to have run out of the one they want...god help us. if anyone can shed any light on it for me I'd be forever grateful!
A Sunday roast in England is a beloved traditional meal that epitomizes British culinary heritage. Typically served on Sunday afternoons, this hearty feast features a succulent roast meat such as beef, chicken, lamb, or pork, accompanied by crispy roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, and a variety of seasonal vegetables like carrots, peas, and parsnips. The meal is completed with rich gravy made from the meat's drippings and often accompanied by sauces like mint sauce for lamb or horseradish for beef. A Sunday roast is not just about the food; it’s a cherished family ritual, fostering togetherness and celebrating the comforting flavors of home-cooked fare.
