In een fluisterbootje op het Naardermeer geniet de oude natuurfotograaf weer even van de planten en vogels.
"Tomorrow, you promise yourself, will be different, yet, tomorrow is too often a repetition of today."
-James T. McKay
Summertime,
And the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high.
Your daddy's rich
And your mamma's good lookin'
So hush little baby
Don't you cry.

This collage was made entirely from magazine strips with a technique I call "painting with paper." I cut the paper into different shapes and layer them in such a way that they look almost like the brushstrokes in a painting.

Summertime and the livin’ is easy
Fish are jumpin’ and the cotton is high
Oh your daddy’s rich and your ma is good lookin’
So hush little baby, don’t you cry
One of these mornings
You’re goin’ to rise up singing
Then you’ll spread your wings
And you’ll take the sky
But till that morning
There’s a nothin’ can harm you

Although it is only Spring in Sydney, the weather has been unusually warm for this time of year, hence my trip to Collaroy beach to capture some of its beauty.
[Information from 'Beachsafe website]
Narrabeen-Collaroy beach is Sydney's second longest beach. The 3.6 km long beach curves in a gentle east-facing arc between 20 m high Narrabeen Head in the north to rocks and low cliff at Collaroy Point, with beachfront houses and apartments backing much of the beach. The northern Narrabeen end was named after the daughter of the aboriginal chief at the time of early white settlement in the 1840s, while the southern Collaroy end was named after the paddle-wheel steamer ‘Collaroy’ wrecked on the beach in 1884. Collaroy Beach was a weekenders and campers haven in the early part of the century.

In 1937 Geoffrey Mander MP did something remarkable - he persuaded the National Trust to accept a house that was just 50 years old.
The local paint manufacturer and Liberal MP had been left the timber-framed house by his father Theodore. Taking inspiration from a lecture on 'the House Beautiful' by Oscar Wilde, Theodore and his wife Flora had decorated its interiors with the designs of William Morris and his Arts and Crafts contemporaries.
This house of the Aesthetic Movement was, by 1937, a relic of an out of fashion era. Yet, so complete was the design that it was worthy of preservation. Having given the house to the Trust, Geoffrey and his second wife Rosalie became its live-in curators, opening the house to the public and adding to its contents. In particular they added a remarkable collection of Pre-Raphaelite paintings by Rossetti, Burne-Jones and their followers.
