Summer Series 2024
I took a long walk on the beach earlier this week, and enjoyed the thoughts running through my mind as the ocean breeze hit my face. Clarity is refreshing. Enjoy the good stuff! ♥

We have a huge bank of lavender in part of the garden and this year it's flowering like never before, just like the Laurier Rose (Oleander) bush behind it which is the pink you see in the photo.
Happy Monday and have a great week ahead!
Looking south. Beyond those hills in the far distance is the Mediterranean. You can see the village clock tower which is situated in the Place de la Mairie. We were walking Bob at around 7pm and it was still a (too) hot 30c.
Have a great weekend everyone! :-)
These are flowers from a big oleander bush in the garden - we have one with red flowers and one with pink flowers. This is my favourite
Happy Sunday! :-)
We have a few bushes of these particular varieties of hibiscus and I particularly like this one with the pinkish/purplish colour and the 'throat' of red. They're very hardy and flower between July and September. Common names include the rose of Sharon (especially in North America), Syrian ketmia, shrub althea (or simply althea), and rose mallow (in the United Kingdom). A further {useless or useful?) fact is that they are the national flower of South Korea and feature in their National Anthem. You never know, that could pop up as a question in a Pub Quiz?! :-))
The weather today was perfect - cobalt blue skies and temperatures of about 26c. The oppressive heat of July and especially August have been pushed aside and everyone seems to be so relieved to be able to sit out and walk about without avoiding the sun. We went for lunch in the village and I took this from a spot near our restaurant. It's yet another beautiful corner of Cotignac.
Have a wonderful weekend! 😊

Felley Priory Gardens, set in the grounds of the historical priory/country estate in Nottinghamshire, the Heart of England. It really is a true hidden gem. Once visited, never forgotten. There's a huge assortment of plants growing across all sections of the beautiful estate.

Taken last summer in the nearby market town of Aups. There's lots of ancient backstreets like this to wander around
We went boating on the Lake of Sainte-Croix (Lac de Sainte Croix) last week. We hired an electric boat so all we had to do was steer. This shows the outlet from the Gorges du Verdon into the lake behind from where I was taking the photo
The Piepermolen (or Molen van Pieper) is a windmill on the Rekkenseweg in Rekken, in the Gelderland municipality of Berkelland. This stone belt mill was built in 1796. After the blade cross broke off the mill during a storm in 1940, the hull has fallen into an increasingly dilapidated state for thirty years. In 1970, however, the Piepermolen was restored, using parts of dismantled and demolished mills. The name derives from the family name of the owners between 1907 and 1965.
The shape of the Piepermolen is special: the bottom two meters are cylindrical, after which the course towards the top is strongly tapered and conical. The refuge is Old Dutch and the mill is equipped with two pairs of grinding stones, which are used to grind animal feed on a voluntary basis.
