You can not add beauty to a perfect beauty, but perhaps a different perspective. My friend Suman has allowed me to work with its beautiful cardinal; I fell in love since the first time I saw it.

this nice simple glutinous rice cake called suman pinuso (heart shape) comes from the bicol province. compared to the suman moron this contains no filling.
moron, what an unusual name for a snack, but this is what this suman or glutinous rice cake from the southern philippines is called. maybe i will need to do more research where this cake got its name from and what it means in their local dialect. anyway, what makes this suman special is the chocolate and peanut filling. the mixture is wrapped with banana leaf before steaming.

La Real Fábrica de Vidrios y Cristales de La Granja fue una manufactura real construida en el Real Sitio de San Ildefonso (en la actual provincia de Segovia) en el siglo XVIII.
El Museo del Vidrio situado en La Granja de San Ildefonso ofrece en más de 16.000m² diversas exposiciones que permiten contemplar piezas, lámparas, moldes y numeroso instrumental y maquinaria empleados en la industria vidriera, componiendo una gran muestra atractiva y didáctica de los fabricados del vidrio y de sus aspectos científicos y técnicos.
El Museo se aloja en la antigua Real Fábrica de Cristales de La Granja, un enorme rectángulo que aloja en su interior un conjunto de edificaciones que suman en total cerca de 25.000 m² de superficie construida (parte de estos edificios alojan un Instituto de Educación Secundaria).
Esta fábrica fue edificada según los planos Joseph Díaz, alias Gamones, entre 1770 y 1784, y se ubicó en las afueras del Real Sitio, previniendo el temor a que pudiera originarse algún incendio.
The Royal Glass and Crystal Factory of La Granja was a real factory built in the Real Sitio de San Ildefonso (in the present province of Segovia) in the eighteenth century.
The Glass Museum located in La Granja de San Ildefonso offers in more than 16.000m² different exhibitions that allow to contemplate pieces, lamps, molds and numerous instrumental and machinery used in the glass industry, composing a great attractive and didactic sample of those made of glass And its scientific and technical aspects.
The Museum is housed in the former Royal Glass Factory of La Granja, a huge rectangle that houses a set of buildings that total in total about 25,000 m² of built surface (part of these buildings host an Institute of Secondary Education) .
This factory was built according to the plans Joseph Diaz, alias Gamones, between 1770 and 1784, and was located in the outskirts of the Real Site, preventing the fear that a fire could originate.
Suman is a rice cake made from glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk, often wrapped in banana leaves or buli or buri palm (Corypha) leaves for steaming. each place in the philippines would have their own special version of suman. in pasig, metro manila they prepare their suman with yam and custard pudding enveloped inside the glutinous rice. a very flavourful snack!

a traditional filipino snack food made from glutinous rice & coconut milk. the glutinous rice is soaked overnight in coconut milk. sprinkle some salt to tast. afterwards the mixture is packed and wrapped tightly in banana leaf or coconut leaf. it is then steamed for several hours until it is cooked. this packed dish had become a traditional snack for christmas eve. best eaten together with a cup of rich hot coco

This a print from the darkroom using the Lith process with Easylith Moersch Chemicals. The Austron papers were made by the Samum factory in Vienna which I went to visit to make a short video about the paper and the process.

my chickadee,

I sang aloud to
my chickadee,
"I love your voice so fine!
It makes me smile,
happy all the while,
so sunny days are mine."
I whispered softly to
my chickadee
"Please come close, my friend-
I want to see your sweet face,
help bring Spring to this sad place,
a Spring I hope will never end."
I thought to myself
"My dear Chickadee,
Why do you fly away?
There's still so much more,
So much more to explore,
On this bright new day!"

Eastbound CSX train Q-200-29 is seen coming through the plant at Suman, Indiana on July 29th, 2020 at 10:52 am with CSX 3291-3166 and 83 cars. Growing up in Newton county, Indiana in corn country I always liked coming around the Valpo-Chesterton-Westville area as the scenery is much better than the cornfields I was used to. Now, I live in Chesterton and these shots are a dime a dozen.
