We were traveling in the Khwai reserve and had spotted a female leopard when we received a radio message that a young leopard had captured an impala fawn.

We were quickly at the scene.

The fawn was still alive, the young cat didn't quite know how to kill the poor thing.

Hunting was one thing, killing was another.

How did mom do that again???

We were able to watch the drama for 90 minutes, at the end the cat dragged the antelope, which was still alive, onto a tree trunk.

Last week’s shot represented the First Noble Truth of Suffering, where we recognise that our lives aren’t perfect and that throughout our existence, we experience quite a bit of dissatisfaction. From our birth to our inevitable death, like butterflies we hop endlessly from one flower to another looking for fulfillment, but fail to find it.

But why? We do we suffer in this way?

The Second Noble Truth, the Truth of Origin provides a one word answer to the question: ‘ignorance’.

This isn’t ignorance in terms of not being good at mathematics or not knowing how to bake a cake; rather we are blinded by an ignorance of the way phenomena exist in reality.

In our daily lives, we see things as so permanent and solid. Because of this we work so hard to obtain the latest gadgets, the most beautiful partner and as much wealth as we can. Let’s take me and my partner as an example. Oh, how I love him! Not only that but I feel like it’ll last forever, and I want it to as well. But in reality the feelings I have for him (or vice versa!) might change. Lovers change. Friends become enemies. Nothing is permanent, and everything is in a constant state of flux. But we don’t realise this, and when the relationship ends, or the iPad breaks, the tears roll.

We also don't understand how phenomena arise, which is through dependent origination And yet there is no phenomenon in existence that is not the result of dependent origination – that all results must have a cause. We continue to see things as extremely concrete and independent, which causes attachment and aversion to arise. Take a nice camera. I don’t just see a nice camera, I see a beautiful, independent, permanent, concrete, expensive camera. Oh, and it’ll make me happy too! Or someone who offends me. UGH! Instead of just a person, I see an evil, horrible, mean eternal archenemy out to get me.

But things aren’t like that, they aren’t concrete or permanent. Your worst enemy becomes a best friend. Countries at war become countries helping each other through economic turmoil. Nice cameras become old, useless, rusty cameras.

Without an understanding of impermanence and dependent origination, our deluded minds react to experiences verbally, physically and mentally in thirsty ( ‘thirst’ or ‘tanha’ in Pali) ways – where we crave for something, where we crave for more, and where we crave for less. The suffering is not the beautiful thing itself, it's our craving to it.

As long as this deluded mind is present, there is no escape from this cycle.

Dendelions suffer from our dismissal and inattention of the ordinary, yet are hardly ordinary close in. Were they 2 feet tall with six inch blossoms there would be scores of cultivars and they would populate gardens. They are asters, important to early spring pollinators, and said to be nutritious, vitamin rich, perhaps even medicinal. We humans eradicate them with toxic enthusiasm from lawn and golf course, as though there is no cost for such activities, though, likely, there is. This one is off the beaten path, free to catch the sun and fulfill its role in nature unmolested.

Iceland is famous for its countless waterfalls but I feel that too many people are just rushing to the large and famous ones. If one travels without haste and off the beaten tracks, there are endless scenarios of natural beauty and less known waterfalls to be enjoyed and admired and as a bonus one does not have to queue nor suffer the antics of some visitors ... ;)

Get our new Icelandic Waterfalls calendar!

Having suffered all day from the tremendous heatwave here in Southern England I decided to do something proactively against sweating and find my solace and refreshment in this memory from May when we stood by the shore of this little Icelandic river which had sculpted kind of half pipes into the unbelievable masses of snow. I am sure you will feel just as refreshed as I did when picturing myself back in this place :)

Off the water and back to the woods to soak up some of the remaining color which is holding fairly well, especially given the strong winds we've had the last few days. I went out specifically to take a bunch of photos to upload into my "new friend," with the single and not unrealistic (I thought) hope of being able to find them...which I did, but not until after numerous wrong guesses as to where I thought they seemingly should be...like "Pictures."

By the way, I appreciate your support and tips re: my new desk top (not a laptop as some seem to have guessed), and it progresses slowly. I really don't use a computer for much other than my photos so I haven't even begun to tap the capabilities of this one...and am uncertain as to whether I will even try or not. What I would like to find is the 90% of my photos which did not appear with the others when I transferred them from the flash drive to the new computer. 10% are in fancy new folders...the rest unpleasantly invisible. Everything sees very hit and miss...mostly miss for now causing me to simply walk away from the computer and find other occupations. My learning curve and patience have both suffered with old age.

" Blow the bridge to the past

Wipe the fingerprints

Melt your heart encased in wax

Steal it with a kiss

Our fate engraved

Scar enslaved

As we mutually destruct

Repose, my love, I've sinned enough

For the both of us

In the name of love

I'm ready to bury all of my bones

I'm ready to lie but say I won't

So tell me your secrets

And join me in pieces

To rot in this garden made of stones

Eternally yours

Eternally yours

I feed like you taught me and selflessly swallow

We coalesce in darkness, so selfishly hollow

Examine the wreckage

Writhing in tempo

Invisible anguish, casting a shadow

And in the name of love

I'm ready to bury all of my bones

I'm ready to lie but say I won't

So tell me your secrets

And join me in pieces

To rot in this garden made of stones

Eternally yours

Eternally yours

As we rest in pieces, though I know not your name

I would suffer forever to absolve all your pain

And in the name of love

I'm ready to bury all of my bones

I'm ready to lie but say I won't

So tell me your secrets

And join me in pieces

To rot in this garden made of stones

I'm ready to bleed to make amends

And sleep in this dirt we call our bed

So tell me your secrets

And join me in pieces

To fall and rewrite the bitter end

Eternally yours

Eternally yours

Eternally yours

Eternally yours

Eternally yours

I'm more than willing to rot in hell with you

I'm ready to bury all of my bones

I'm ready to lie but say I won't

So tell me your secrets

And join me in pieces

To rot in this garden made of stones

I'm ready to bleed to make amends

And sleep in this dirt we call our bed

So tell me your secrets

And join me in pieces

To fall and rewrite the bitter end

Eternally yours ... "

Where were you when I fell from grace

A frozen heart an empty space

Something's changed and it's in your eyes

Please don't speak you'll only lie

I found treasure not where I thought

Peace of mind can't be bought

Still I believe

Just hang on

Suffer well

Sometimes it's hard

It's hard to tell

An angel led me when I was blind

I said take me back I've changed my mind

Now I believe

From the blackest room I was torn

You called my name my love was born

So I believe

Just hang on

Suffer well

Sometimes it's hard

It's hard to tell

Just hang on

Suffer well

Sometimes it's hard

So hard to tell

With all these happening around the world, and near us, i have to share this <3

"To claim one day to live as free people, that is, as people who refuse to exercise as well as suffer horror"

- Albert Camus

The Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul is a neo-Gothic church in Vyšehrad fortress in Prague, Czech Republic.

Founded in 1070–1080 by the Czech King Vratislav II, the Romanesque basilica suffered a fire in the year 1249 and has been rebuilt in Gothic and later in neo-Gothic style. The basilica features an impressive stone mosaic above its entry, and its twin 58 m towers can be seen atop a hill to the south from along the Vltava River in central Prague.

Behind the church is located large park and Vyšehrad cemetery, the final resting place of many famous Czechs, including author Karel Čapek and composer Antonín Dvořák. In 2003 the church was elevated to basilica by Pope John Paul II.

The monastery was founded by St. Patrick in the 5th century and the remnants of the High Crosses and Round Tower are indicative of its importance. The monastery was linked to St Maelruns monastery of Tallaght and adopted the practices of the Ceile De movement. The Vikings raided the monastery in 932 and it was again burned in 1114. It was the threat from the Vikings, which led to the building of the round tower in the 9th/10th century. A town developed around the monastery with buildings of timber and mud which have since been obliterated by wind and weather. The Round Tower at Old Kilcullen is about 10m high and it has a round-headed doorway. This is less than 2m above ground level and about 1.7m high.

Ancient history books such as the Annals of the Four Masters tell of terrible Danish attacks on Kilcullen in 936 and 944 AD. This probably led to the construction of the Round Tower.

The tower is approximately 40 ft high and the top parts suffered a lot of damage in 1798. An account written in 1782 tells of there being four large windows in the upper part of the tower but only the semblance of one now remains. The village which developed around the edge of the monastery continued to exsist until it was distroyed in a battle on 24th May 1798.

Because Leiden’s historical center did not suffer that much during the second World War, it offers many historical sights to see. The city offers over 2500 historical sights, which of course you cannot all see in one day. However, to make most of your day and get to see as much as you can without rushing it, I advise you to rent a bike. This way, you can easily move around, and you’ll save a lot of time compared to traveling by foot or public transport.

As for which sights to visit, it is impossible to list all you should visit. However, there are a couple that stand out. To mention a few, ‘The fortress’ is definitely worth a visit. This is one of the oldest still existing fortresses in The Netherlands, and is a beautiful ancient sight. Next to this, make sure you sure you visit the Pieterskerk and the Hooglandse Kerk. These are respectively Leiden’s largest church and the largest church that is still in use.

Museums

Leiden offers many sights outdoors, but is does not end there. Indoors there is also much to see, as the city offers many different kinds of museums. Which museum you should visit of course depends on what your interests are. If you are into science, Museum Boerhaave is your best option. If you’re personally more captured by archeology, you should definitely go to Rijksmuseum van Oudheden. Finally, Museum Volkenkunde (‘ethnology’) is definitely worth a visit. If all of these examples provided don’t look appealing to you, there is no reason to be sad: there are still many different museums located in Leiden. There should be at least one that suits your taste ;).

"No man has suffered

Rushing through my brain

Rolling in my heart

Swelling in the wind

The blue has redemption

The tide that never changed

Breaking in my heart

We are born again

I'd climb in under skies so blue it yearns

Hand over hand, carried all the memories

And don't look down in fate or fame

I tumble and glide into the white wide tide

Whirling and whirling

And let the slamming waves decide my fate

Because hope is all I need

And hope breaks on me

And hope breaks on me

And hope breaks on me

And hope breaks on me

The moon and the sun glow

Take me down

The moon and the sun glow

Take me down"

Whenever people suffered the difficulty in real life, they either faced the challenge with courage or hided themselves in their secret garden temporarily, made their sophicated thoughts within, and then find way to breakthrough again.

Have you ever own your secret garden ? It could be a real place in the world , or just a mental place at your mind, which made yourself feel safe & help you calm down from the suddently sufferings in real life.

Try to create the secret garden through the overlayering composition, it can be a place mixed with variable emotions, happiness, sorrow, hate, sadness, peaceful etc, not necesarry a subjective garden in vision, maybe just a private corner under the tree, on the meadow, or even the space between the leaves & air.. tell me how you think about your secret garden.

The Ascent

The land did not produce and the world suffered from hunger and cold.

It was decided that the daughter should be returned to her mother, to alleviate humanity's suffering.

To be able to return, she should not have tasted death! However, Persephone had eaten some pomegranate berries ...

This series of pictures was loosely based in the myth of the abduction of Persephone, the Goddess daughter of Demeter and Zeus. Some scenes are depicted in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, others in Ovid's Metamorphoses.

HELLO FRIENDS AND FOLLOWERS OF FLICKR Hello friends of photography: I haven't been able to send any photographs in a long time and for the time being I won't be sending. Due to an accident at work in which I suffered a fracture of the tibia and fibula quite spectacular and serious. I will do my best to recover as soon as possible. Hos I send a photo not made by me of the state of my leg. Thanks

We suffer primarily not from our vices or our weaknesses, but from our illusions. We are haunted, not by reality, but by those images we have put in their place.

Daniel J. Boorstin

This is an old dartboard in a haunted Inn in upstate NY.

Suffered severe mobbing by a group of Crows and Ravens over an extended period around the former nest site of its now fledged owlet. I had seen another severe incident involving both parents a couple of weeks ago before the youngster fledged.

It is not unusual for Corvids to stage multiple mobbings around Great Horned Owl nest sites. Mobbing incidents tend to be worse when an owl has prey like this one does as the Corvids try to induce dropping of the prey.

In the end, this owl flew a few times and was able to enjoy its prey in solitude.

Show me your sexy little intellect

And I'll show you how to make your head and body disconnect

My darkest feelings start to coalesce

And I feel the bubbles as my blood it starts to effervesce

Whisper your petty little epithets

And run your fingers down my body like a bayonet

I see you flexing in the silhouette

So tip back your head if you want to feel the full effect

I feel

I suffer

I lose myself in you

I feel

I suffer

I suffer (I suffer)

Touch me and make me feel your misery

And play me like you play your twisted little symphony

'Cause I'm just addicted to you

I'm just addicted to you

I'm just addicted to the way you get the worst of me

I feel

I suffer

I lose myself in you

I feel

I suffer

I suffer

And in our little world

I disappear into you

Into you

And I feel

I suffer

I suffer

I feel

I suffer

I lose myself in you

And I feel

I suffer

I suffer

I feel

I feel

I feel

Yeah, I feel (I suffer)

I feel (I suffer)

Day by day it's getting stronger

Nothing's big enough to hide us

For every night I say a prayer

Well I swear you are the answer

Both have suffered 2+ weeks of wild fires. This was from a winter trek, in 2016.

The local alternative newspaper, Willamette Week, does decent investigative reporting. Some of these fires were started by 15-years, horsing around: www.wweek.com/news/2017/09/05/anatomy-of-an-inferno-how-t...

My dad has suffered through some serious health issues this spring, so it was great to see him getting back in the swing of things today. Minnesotans always like to make fun of us ordinary Iowans for fishing bullheads, but as my dad would answer, "it sure beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick".

The physical sun is the realm of the higher souls of the more pure and evolutionary in the Cosmos. Your soul has to be very pure and high evolutionally to be able to enter the heavenly realms of the Sun. All the other angelic souls go the Moon realm and planetary realms and the non so evolutionary souls go to the Nether worlds below Earth, to the Patala underworlds or Ades of the ancient Greeks. Below Ades or Patala is Naraka what we call Hell worlds or Tartara in ancient Greek.

The souls that live now in the Sun realm we may call them gods for they are responsible and guardians of the Earth and the planetary worlds. The fate and destiny of the Earth is in their hands and they control its fate.

Now we enter the Solar maximum when we have many explosions of the sun in the form of flares bombarding our Earth and its (magnetic) atmosphere. These flares now have significant power and energy energising the Earth and its inhabitants. The flares that hit the Earth in this period of Solar maximum will have a great spiritual and energetic and purifying effect in all beings now living on Earth. The physical beings now living on Earth even the plants and animals will have to be purified in order to withstand these higher energies coming from the Sun. Not everyone will manage to withstand these purifications waves coming from the sun and many will succumb to them not being able to withstanding its energies for they have not been prepared by God to handle these high elevated energies. Many will suffer from illnesses and various karmas not being able to handle these purifying energies. The purification of the energy of the sun will continue non stop through this year and the next till all that remains on Earth is purified.

Many souls knew this coming and had prepare themselves by purifying their bodies with pure sathwic foods and purifying their minds and heart with godly thoughts and sentiments loving all Gods creations. The Avatar of the Lord also descended on Earth and gathered the lovers of God beside Him the previous decades and gave them the instructions and teachings necessary to purify their souls and bodies to be able to withstand the purification rays coming from the sun this solar maximum.

From this purification that is now happening from the Sun rays and flares all the consciousness on Earth will rise to an unprecedented level heralding the Golden Age of humanity and closing the Kali Yuga of wars and strife and vengeance among the souls now living on Earth.

The Earth and its inhabitants are now entering a new Era of peace and love and truth and justice after this purification ends in the next two years and only those who will withstand this purification happening now will continue to live and inhabit the Earth.

Only deva, that is God like people will walk on the surface of the Earth during this Golden Age of humanity called by the Veda as the Sathya Yuga, the Age of Truth.

So do not be afraid and in panic for the gods living now in the Sun realm know what are they doing and how they will use the flares that are ejected by the sun. They hold the destiny of Earth in their hands trusted by the almighty God fully in unison with Him. At the right time a big flare will emanate from the Sun that will finish the purification process and then Earth and its inhabitants will shine in a new splendour, the splendour of the Golden Age of Truth !

The Church of St. Francis, an example of Sicilian Baroque, the original building was in Arab-Norman style with three naves and twelve altars, in addition to the main one.

In 1680, Msgr. Francesco Maria Grifeo (then bishop of the diocese ), he decided to turn it into baroque style, the two side aisles were demolished, and the nave was raised and covered with a barrel vault.

He was then reopened for worship in 1703, to be closed again following the earthquake of Belize in 1968, during which the church and the adjoining convent suffered significant damage. In 1977 the restoration works were started.
