Thank you all so very much for the unexpected Explore status on this image, and for your wonderful feedback!

I created this for my friend Janeen. She’s having a really hard time. She has told me today that her cancer is back and it is terminal. It’s just a shame,it’s a crying shame. So I thought I would send this to her for inspiration, to have some light to focus on. A candle, ray of hope. I’m having reservations.

Am I sucking up the TV, or is it sucking me?

I am probably the biggest TV addict in the world. My TV is on right now, and I'm not even watching it! I can't sleep without the soothing sound of televised human voices in the background. I listen to the Mandarin and Cantonese news channels while I'm reading or working--I don't want to be distracted by words I understand, but I feel deserted if there's nobody talking! I can't live without TV! I NEEEEEEEEEEEED TV! TV IS GOD!

(I heard it was even Switch Off Your TV Week this week, or something--man, I haven't switched mine off in ages. I don't remember when it was last turned to the OFF position.)

Am I the biggest hoser ever, or what?

This is a red-naped sapsucker, a distinctly different species from the yellow-bellied and red-breasted sapsuckers. They all look pretty much the same, but researchers announced in 1983 that they are 3 distinct species. I bet that turned the birding world on its ear! 😜 According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, they do so much suck the sap but rather lap it up. They'll drill a hole in a tree then stick their tongue in the hole to lick the sap. Their tongues have small hair-like projections that help hold the sap, much like a paintbrush holds paint. Nature is a pretty fascinating thing.

This was such a pain to get.

Hello everybody! Over the past week I've been dealing with "the 'rona," or covid. It sucks, but it could've been much, much worse. I work in a hospital, so I've seen how bad it can get. My case was relatively mild, though some have had even milder cases. I won't pretend to be an expert and ramble on about protection, immunity, consipiracy or politics. All I want to say is that I did what I could to avoid it, but got it anyway and am glad that I'm getting through it.

Anyway, this is a pond with no apparent name, in I.S and Gertrude Sahli Nature Park, near Beaver Falls, PA.

This vehicle mounted machine is for cleaning out toilets that have no sewage system, so you do not want to get the blow and suck reversed

So what is the thing that I should spend time fretting about today? The determination by the dealership that Julie's car is officially dead (turning us into a one-car family, with me working an hour away from Plano), or the fun fact that I do believe I am getting another kidney stone?

Decisions, decisions!

my scanner sucks.

This Eastern Tiger Swallowtail was flitting about Brookside Gardens and offered a wonderful subject while it was feeding on this coneflower. The butterfly still has both tails and looks young and vibrant.

What a jumping spider not collaborative I've found this time! o_O

I found it in my garden and when he jumped in my hand I brought he into the house to take some shot above a mineral stone but He did not remain still for a second!

This image is the result of 14 shots stacked handheld with my Canon MP-E while it is sucking one of his legs... I have mounted it with photoshop manually because for every image he has moved his pedipalps, fortunately the rest of the body stood still!

This is the only one image "good" (and probably is not perfect) of one hour of shooting! :o)

I hope you like it and I thank you all in advance for your comments and faves!
