When there's nowhere to hide, you might as well keep on grazing. Wildebeests continue munching on fresh grass even under lashing rain in the Mara Triangle Conservancy in southwest Kenya. Photo made during a September 2022 safari. Production Notes: All those diagonal streaks are not a Photoshop effect; they actually are raindrops. The downpour was really heavy. Also, since the clouds, rain and fog already had sucked 95 percent of the color out of the scene, I went on and sucked the rest of the color out and made this a monochrome.) ©2022 | John M. Hudson

Day 89 (03.29.2012)
Today just sucked. One of my very best friends has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and my heart is just breaking for him, his family, and all of his friends. The shock of it just feels like a big numb void in my heart.
Tomorrow will be better, I know. For right now though, I met a few friends out and we decided to focus on how we will spend the half of a billion dollars we plan to win in the lottery tomorrow. Life is too short, live every second!
PS: Of course number 1 on our list is to invest every penny needed to cure cancer. Then with the leftovers here are a few of mine:
1) That all of my cocktails that I'll be sipping while sitting on my beach on my private island will have full sized umbrellas.
2) That I will rid the world of English peas.
3) To help the farmers and products that rely on English peas, I will have them all replaced with Edamame.
4) I will buy John Cusack and convince him to be a Republican.
5) I will have a different tiara every day to wear.

Now sitting over the ash pit, Engineer Bruce Mowbray climbs down from the cab and begins washing down the ashes in the ash pan in preparation for dumping them into the pit. The water is supplied via a hose connected to the injector on the fireman's side. The fireman primes and starts the injector and then opens a small valve near the water intake pipe which then redirects a portion of the water being sucked through the injector into the hose as seen here. Bruce in this scenario can then redirect the fireman to adjust the flow of water as needed.
