In 2001 the RAF MRS mounted the first successful single-service expedition to climb Mount Everest. Led by Ted Atkins the expedition was delayed by several fruitful rescues of other climbers and this reduced the number of summit opportunities. However, Dan Carroll and Rusty Bale did summit and, more importantly, lived to tell the tale. The expeditions large wooden shed, used as a communal dining room proved popular with many other expeditions and on completion of their trip the ‘shed’ was donated to local sherpas.

Last home game of the season against East Dorset Dockers. Another great 87:0 win for Lytchett. One more game against Oakmedians on the 6th of April will bring a very successful season to an end. We still got a cup game against Royal Wootton Bassett III on 30th of March with the venue yet to be announced. LMRFC are already confirmed winners of the season 2023/24 and are now looking forward to a Counties Championship Round one game against Sandown & Shanklin on the 13th of April.

The second team had a three-way friendly game against Poole RFC and Exeter Engineers RFC on pitch two with LMRFC II vs. Pool for the first half, then LMRFC II vs. Exeter Engineers in the second half and after that it was Exeter Engineers against Poole RFC for 20 minutes. Sadly, I do not have the scores for any of those three games.

Another successful day at Ginger Moo Gallery running my second event for The Big Draw 2009. There was a fantastic turn out from the public for the free drop-in workshops, with plenty of play and creativity irrespective of whether people believed it came naturally to them or not.

September 28, 2013. Washington DC.

Successful:

-The intensity of the burn in the wood creates a great contrast between the words and the box.

-The variation in stroke width and size gives the type hierarchy.

-The serif font is easily legible, even when upside down.
