Successful business-to-business campaign for high end optical and graphical DM printing company Zelos
ITC successfully hosted an official inbound delegation from the Casablanca-Settat Region of the Kingdom of Morocco from October 28–30, 2025, marking an important milestone in strengthening economic, cultural, and institutional ties between Miami-Dade County and Morocco. Gerard Philippeaux, Executive Director, Sudeshna Chatterjee, Senior Global Engagement Officer, ITC and ITC Team, worked with the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Miami to plan and set the meetings.
The three-day visit featured a series of high-level meetings and institutional engagements with key partners across Miami-Dade County, curated by ITC, reflecting both regions’ shared commitment to advancing global collaboration in trade, tourism, education, and maritime industries.
The delegation began its visit with a tour and meeting at Miami Dade College’s North Campus, hosted by Campus President, Fermin Vazquez, to explore future educational and cultural exchange opportunities. Later that afternoon, the delegation met with Ivan Barrios, President and Alice Ancona, COO, and ITC Board Member, of the World Trade Center Miami, to discuss trade facilitation, investment promotion, and business development between Morocco and South Florida.
On October 29, the delegation met with David Whitaker, President & CEO and Richard Gibbs, Director of Corporate Communications at the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), to discuss tourism promotion and destination marketing strategies. The group then engaged with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Latin Chamber of Commerce of the United States (CAMACOL), hosted by ITC Board Member and CAMACOL President, Joe Chi and Liane Ventura, Sr. VP at GMCC, along with their members, to identify opportunities for joint ventures and business partnerships.
A welcome luncheon followed at Miami International Airport’s Consular Lounge, hosted by U. Desmond Alufohai, Division Director, Protocol & International Affairs Division, Miami-Dade Aviation Department, where delegates were officially welcomed on behalf of Miami-Dade County.
On October 30, the delegation participated in the Sister Cities Agreement Signing Ceremony between Miami-Dade County and the Casablanca-Settat Region, held at the Stephen P. Clark Center. The Agreement celebrated the formal establishment of a Sister Cities relationship symbolizing long-term partnership, mutual respect, and cooperation.
The signing builds upon a rich history of engagement between Miami-Dade County and the Kingdom of Morocco. In 2002, PortMiami and the Port of Casablanca signed a Sister Seaport Agreement, laying the foundation for maritime collaboration. In 2019, Royal Air Maroc launched the first-ever nonstop flight between Miami and Casablanca, creating a direct gateway between the Americas and Africa. The opening of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Miami in June 2025, under the leadership of The Honorable Chafika El Habti, further strengthened these ties and expanded Morocco’s diplomatic presence in the region.
The Sister Cities Agreement was signed by The Honorable Daniella Levine Cava, Mayor of Miami-Dade County; Mr. Abdellatif Maâzouz, President of the Casablanca-Settat Region; The Honorable Oliver G. Gilbert III, Commissioner, District 1, Miami-Dade County, and Chairman of the ITC Board of Directors; The Honorable Juan Carlos Bermudez, Commissioner, District 12, Miami-Dade County, and Vice Chairman of the ITC Board of Directors; Mr. Hassane Berkani, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Casablanca-Settat; and Mr. Mohamed Elfane, President of the Moroccan Franchise Federation and Investment Commission, CCIS Casablanca-Settat.
Following the ceremony, the delegation met with Gerard Philippeaux, Executive Director of ITC, at Royal Caribbean Group, and later with Nimrod Simeon, Manager of Government Affairs and International Relations at PortMiami, where discussions centered on strengthening maritime collaboration, logistics connectivity, and cruise industry opportunities. The PortMiami visit concluded with a guided tour of the port facilities, providing delegates with an overview of Miami’s maritime infrastructure and trade operations.
ITC extends its appreciation to all institutional partners, including Miami Dade College, the World Trade Center Miami, GMCVB, CAMACOL, GMCC, MDAD Protocol Division, Royal Caribbean Group, and PortMiami, for their collaboration and hospitality throughout the visit.
This inbound delegation marked a significant step toward expanding Miami-Dade County’s international presence and advancing the County’s commitment to global partnership, mutual prosperity, and cultural understanding.
