Successful night of flounder gigging, Copano Bay. The founder was quite dangerous once in the boat, too.
Successful because the metal/mirror quality is very modern, the typeface is elegant and professional, it overall looks like a place of high-status.
Workshop on Successful Proposal Writing
The Division of University Advancement is committed to increasing the number of faculty and staff members who are successful in securing funding through private foundations and corporations.
This workshop, the second sponsored by University Advancement, will feature panelists from GlaxoSmith Kline, Burroughs Wellcome Fund, The Altria Group, the Winston-Salem Foundation and Winston-Salem State University.
Come and learn how to tap into millions in grant dollars available from corporations and foundations.
This panel was submitted at the distinctions sitting of the Irish Photographic Federation in 2012 and, I'm delighted to say, was successful.
With a selected palette of five colours this was one of outcomes; it's playful forms making it the most successful
This little hooded merganser sure caught a nice one! Too bad he was so far away, I could not quite get the focus I wanted on this.
The route took us through breathtaking scenery on rugged mountain roads. We were greeted by llamas and flamingos, diverse vegetation (complete with cactus flowers), and rapidly changing geology. When services got scarce we met with some lovely locals in the villages of Parca and Moque, who were quick to offer refreshments and directions.

Planning a successful (and educational) field trip for 2018 is all about the prep. Having an organized, systematic plan for getting all your ducks in a row is the way to ensure that your field trip will go off without a hitch and your students will derive maximum benefit from the learning it highlights.
Here are our favorite tips for planning a successful (and educational) field trip for 2018.
Why are you going?
You’re an educator, so you know field trips are about more than getting out of the classroom for a day. They’re about learning. But what do you hope to achieve, in educational terms?
You need to be very clear about that, when seeking approval from your Board. Make sure that your presentation to the Board includes concise and coherent information about your goals for students on the field trip.
Go prepared with projected learning outcomes, aligning these with the Standard Course of Study to ensure you get approval. This is your first step and without it, you’re not going anywhere.
Prepping your students.
Your field trip is part of a curricular plan that demands students take away necessary outcomes. Introducing the trip you’re planning as part of a classroom lesson highlights its educational purpose.
Build enthusiasm by providing photographs, videos and other materials which introduce your students to the site you’re planning to visit. Enlist the help of students from other classes who’ve already visited the site and invite them in to speak to your class about what they learned.
Be sure to clearly delineate your expectations for student behavior. Creating a handout which states your expectations in this regard is crucial, as there will be no excuses for forgetting key elements of your “rules of engagement”when everything’s in writing.
Develop a clear itinerary, then ask students to sign it. This will serve as a contract between you and your group. You agree to provide the educational content and the students agree to approach the field trip as an opportunity to learn.
Create a checklist of what students should pack. Discuss suitable footwear and other key items students are going to need for the destination, to ensure they’re fully prepared.
Prepping everyone else.
Now that your Board has agreed to the field trip and you’re getting your students ready, attend to the nuts and bolts, like parental permission.
Your parental permission form is an ideal opportunity to generate interest from potential chaperones, so don’t forget to float the possibility when the form is sent home with students. Invite them on board.
Once you have commitments, prepare your chaperones for the role. A brief meeting in the runup to the trip will help you get to know them and get them ready for what you need from them while you’re out there.

Rejuvenation Therapy / Rejuvenation Technology in Trees?
Rejuvenation therapy / Rejuvenation technology is the process of pruning and after pruning management of the plants to make them productive by utilizing the existing root system for support and absorption and the existing limb/branch system to rebuild the productive canopy.
What is Senility?
Senility is a stage of the plant in which after a long span of continuous fruiting the ability of the branches or limbs and the whole tree to produce vigorous and efficient twigs having the capacity to bear the fruit is reduced.
Why rejuvenation of senile plants?
1. India is a leading fruit-producing country.
2. Fruit production in the country is an age-old enterprise.
3. A large acreage is under the systematic fruit plantation.
4. The low average productivity of orchards in India is attributed to the prevalence of senile orchards.
5. Hence rejuvenation is requested to improve the productivity of senile orchards.
Characteristics of senile orchards?
a. Predominance of long unfruitful branches and tip-bearing habits.
b. Reduction in the ability of a particular branch to produce vigorous and efficient twigs that can bear fruits.
c. Overcrowding of branches in the inner part of the canopy leads to restricted sunlight penetration.
d. Heavy incidence of pests and disease.
e. Drastic reduction in fruit yield, and appearance.
Principle of rejuvenation
1. Trees have latent buds on their limbs and branches which are activated to put forth new sprouts which ultimately form the canopy and fruiting area of the plant.
2. Improvement in root shoot; ratio.
Considerations for rejuvenation
a. Age of the plant
b. The ability of the species to coppice
c. A frame of the tree
d. Time and severity of rejuvenation
e. Post rejuvenation care
f. Transformation of rejuvenated juvenile shoots
g. Top working to change the variety
Advantages of Rejuvenation therapy/Rejuvenation technology in trees
1. Utilization of existing root system
2. Lowering the fruiting area which can be conveniently managed.
3. Creation of extra space for inter-cropping in the orchards.
4. The availability of a large amount of pruned wood can provide additional income.
5. Enhancing the productivity of plant
Conclusion
1. Rejuvenation has been found successful in mango.
2. It is responding to the trees having strong shoot renewal and coppicing capacity.
3. Efforts should be made to improve the productivity of other fruit and plantation crops having similar growth habits.
4. In crops where young shoots have economic importance, rejuvenation practices should also be tried to improve their productivity.
Methodology and operation in mango trees
1. Marking and cutting of the trees.
2. Heading back and selection of main branches.
3. Pasting on cut ends.
4. New shoot initiation on rejuvenated trees.
5. Profuse shooting.
6. Thinning of shoots.

XLProjects and Project Cargo Nexus successfully completed a joint meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, in November, 2013. The meeting was held in the Hilton Cape Town City Centre over a three day period. We had a very industrious time with the one-on-one meetings over a day-and-a-half. We kicked the event off with a welcome reception on the pool deck of the Hilton and on the first morning we got the meeting started with presentations given by Safmarine MPV, Antwerp Breakbulk Agencies, Sarens South Africa and Advanced International Networks. We also took time to enjoy a lovely dinner at the Simonsig wine estate in Stellenbosch which was greatly enjoyed by one and all.
