magicmoonjelly: medievalpoc: vinegardoppio submitted: The description is in Japanese, so I’m not sure what the details on this is, but here’s a rad early 17th century art piece from Japan depicting a variety of different cultures and ethnic groups. Fukuoka City Museum, entitled “World Nationalities,” artist unknown. Link I always enjoy these types of works, because they show a general understanding of an early modern global culture, and obviously demonstrate an interest in the differences between people in various geographical locations. At some point I should make a masterpost of this specific type of fashion-plate exploration of cultures, considering I’ve seen near-identical works from different nations and regions in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. A quick translation: 20 men and women from around the world, painted with Western style expressions. Due to the proselytizing of Southern Chinese merchants and Jesuits, Japan was in touch with European culture towards the end of the Muromachi era. As a result, drawings and expression in fine arts as yet unseen before began to emerge. There were originally 30 folding screens including a world map and one of people from all of the world, in addition to one being painted with a Southern Chinese influence, but were destroyed in a fire. The early works were thought to have been created in connection to the Portuguese Seminario and Jesuits, as it exemplified Jesuit dogma and the great sailing era of Europe. As it was a Japanese painter, it was done on a folding screen, and the style spread outside of the churches into society, the whole world appreciated this new form, including the samurai families. This screen, as one of set, may have been able to match with another 20 such screens depicting men and women and a world map. There are some color mistakes, but the linework and positioning is faithfully recreated just as they would have appeared in the Edo era. The time of gorgeous Southern Chinese art continuing nonetheless, the curtain was closed on Christianity when it was banned at the start of Japan’s isolation. Thanks so much for the translation! It’s sad to hear that there were more screens in this set/style, that were lost.

Dear Wheeltags,

I am sending you pictures of my new wheeltags installed. They look great and

I am very happy. However, they are a royal pain in the ass to install on the

new HED Jet Disc wheel because of the bulge on the sides.

Thanks,

Jason

Before choosing one particular agency, you need to know that there are multiple ICO marketing firms and therefore, you should thoroughly inspect the firms so that you can get the best result out of it. It is really important to collaborate with a well-organized firm as ICO firms help blockchain start-ups to reach the zenith in no time.
