This is the creek in the backyard where our children grew up. We splashed around, waded, enjoyed. In the intervening years since then, an episode of construction upstream silted up the creek, obliterating the sandbars and sandbed they remember. Much of the silt has shifted downstream by the time this photo was made in 2015, so our stretch is clearer, but of course the damage moved downstream. We lost all the mussels. I do checks for microinvertibrates in cooperation with my local stream protectors, and alas, there are not enough to register.
This is in Alamance County, North Carolina, on Travis Creek, a trib of Haw River.
I just took this picture, check it out. People are hunger for the truth to get out of debt and plan for the future. 12 weeks of successful planning.

Riders look at the flowers along the trail during the Wildflower Ride Sunday put on by the Mounted Assistance Unit at the Hunting Hollow entrance to Henry W. Coe State Park. About 20 equestrians turned out to learn about the wildflowers. There are many types of wildflowers in Hunting Hollow and with all the recent sunshine there were plenty of them blooming. We were treated to Poppies, , Baby Blue Eyes, Cream Cups, Buttercups, Checkerbloom, and Johnny Jump Ups just to name a few.
