Built in the Indo-saracenic style, the Gateway of India is meant to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay, prior to the Darbar in Delhi in December 1911. The foundation stone was laid on March 31, 1911 and George Wittet's final design sanctioned in August 1914. Between 1915 and 1919 work proceeded on reclamations at Apollo Pier for the land on which the gateway and the new sea wall would be built. The foundations were completed in 1920.

Note from the photographer: The attached photo was taken 07/18/2008 by Jenna, my daughter, at our acreage. Jenna loves to take pictures of her horses on her digital camera. She just went in the corral with them and got her horses to run around and Jack, the horse in the picture, was all excited and started bucking and running around the corral. I thought it was pretty good that she got the picture of Jack bucking and kicking his hind legs up. Jenna shows her horses at the Madison County Fair and State Horse show and many other open shows all summer long. She has won many Grand Champion and Reserve Champion trophies.

It was a day with much waiting on an "automated" system that should, and normally does, enable me to post, test, refine, and send a client newsletter easily within an hour, at most. Today? It was a 4+ hour delay...and there was no one on the other end of the phone or email who could explain what was going on.
Some support groups are spectacular, and some need listening lessons, for starters.

Submitted for the something about society and stuff for fyv... I took this a few years ago for a photo essay in high school. This is the largest size I have of the file now after computer crashes and stuff, which is pretty disappointing. Anyways, it's me and it was originally meant to portray society's general lack of trust and openness.
