Here is Flat Stanley in Chinatown, at the entrance to the Lan Su Chinese Garden. You can tell by the red lanterns that they are getting ready to celebrate the Lunar New Year and welcome the Year of the Rooster.
David Elias building, built in 1928, is situated at the junction of Short Street and Middle Road. The building's most prominent feature is a logo of a six-pointed Star of David fixed atop building.
Key features
David Elias Building overlooks the junction of Selegie Road and Middle Road. Built in 1928 by a Jewish merchant, it was commissioned to be designed by architects Swan & Maclaren. It is a three-storey "stripped" neo-classical building reflective of the architectural style popular in the 1920s. The building assumes a slight art deco look with its its balconies and concrete slab being at eaves level. At the point where the classically-propotioned facade joins the roof, the concrete slab projects strongly and serves as both; cornices and eaves to the roof. The roof is high-pitched and broad and the two storey high windows are cantilevered and bay type. The star of david fixed right on top of the building is used as a bas-relief decoration. The building dominates the landscape of that area while lending dignity to the street with its visual effect. It houses shops and offices.

El mandatario estatal atendió las peticiones de los habitantes del municipio de Sinaloa.
Sinaloa de Leyva, Sinaloa, a 17 de diciembre del 2011.- En cumplimiento a su promesa de llevar el Gobierno en Movimiento también a los municipios pequeños y apartados, el gobernador Mario López Valdez celebró la novena edición de dicho programa, en esta ocasión en el municipio de Sinaloa, acompañado por su presidente municipal, Saúl Rubio Valenzuela.
En el estadio de beisbol Benjamín “Papelerito” Valenzuela se dieron cita alrededor de 5 mil personas vecinas tanto de la cabecera municipal, como de las comunidades serranas, para hacer diversos planteamientos al gobernador del estado, entre ellos solicitud de becas de estudio, despensas alimenticias, computadoras, mejoras para sus casas que provee los programas de Piso Firme y Techo Seguro a través de la Secretaría de Desarrollo Social y Humano, por citar unos ejemplos.
Cabe destacar que producto de las ocho ediciones anteriores, celebradas en Culiacán, Los Mochis, Mazatlán, El Rosario, Navolato, Guasave, Escuinapa y Guamúchil, se han atendido 33 mil 199 peticiones, de las cuales 22 mil 809 ya han sido solucionadas, mientras que el resto se trata de casos que pueden concretarse a mediano o largo plazo.
Por espacio de más de siete horas el mandatario estatal recibió personalmente las peticiones que le hizo la ciudadanía, muchas de ellas que se refieren a obras de beneficio colectivo, como pavimentación de calles, campos de futbol y beisbol, unidades de transporte para equipos deportivos, entre otras cosas.
Alrededor de la carpa instalada en el terreno de juego del estadio, se ubicaron las unidades móviles de la Secretaría de Salud, donde se ofrecieron gratuitamente mastografías, pruebas de papanicolau, consultas dentales y exámenes de vista, con su respectiva entrega de lentes para las personas que así lo requirieron.
El presidente municipal, Saúl Rubio Valenzuela, agradeció al gobernador Mario López Valdez el que haya traído este programa antes de que termine diciembre, y destacó que con ésta, ya son 10 ocasiones que el mandatario estatal visita el municipio de Sinaloa en lo que va del año, lo que no había hecho gobernador alguno en toda la historia.
Como en las ocho ocasiones anteriores, el gobernador se hizo acompañar por todos los miembros de su gabinete, quienes en coordinación con los delegados federales y servidores públicos municipales, atendieron en un mismo lugar las peticiones de los ciudadanos, para evitarles el clásico peregrinar por las diferentes dependencias de los tres órdenes de gobierno, a fin de ofrecer una respuesta en un mismo sitio.
