La Saint-Valentin symbolise aujourd'hui la fête des amoureux sans nul doute, mais ses origines sont sujettes à bien des hypothèses. La fête des lupercales ou Lupercalia, observée dans la Rome antique, semble être l'origine païenne de la Saint Valentin.
L'église chrétienne combattit les lupercales en vain durant le 4e et 5e siècle, période durant laquelle de nombreux rites païens ont été remplacés par des fêtes chrétiennes. Les lupercales furent associées à la Saint-Valentin.
Valentin est un martyr, ou plusieurs martyrs, dont l'histoire est assez floue, mais qui fut élevé en martyr au 3e ou 4e siècle.
Ensuite en Angleterre, le 14 février serait le jour où les oiseaux se reproduisent le plus. Les poètes du 14ème et 15ème siècle se seraient ainsi saisis de cette information, puis se seraient chargés d’inventer le mythe de la fête des amoureux, aussi fête des amitiés.
Et c'est au 19ème siècle que le phénomène connaît un véritable essor avec la création des "Valentin" : des petits mots doux que les amoureux et les très bons amis s’envoyaient.
Enfin, au 20ème siècle la Saint-Valentin perdure avec la création des cartes de vœux, et devient ensuite uniquement réservée aux amoureux. Le coté amitié disparaît progressivement, ce qui est franchement dommage !!!

A beautiful church above Siusi allo Sciliar (Seis am Schlern) in South-Tyrol (Südtirol, Alto Adige). It was already afternoon (not my preferred time for taking pictures), but the sun created a really nice haziness behind the church.
Sur un sentier en forêt, j’ai aperçu ce petit cœur accroché très haut sur une branche…
Je me suis d’abord demandé comment on avait pu l’accrocher aussi haut…
Puis, je l’ai photographié en me disant que je ferais sûrement quelque chose avec lui…
Et bien le voici pour vous …

Dans l'attente d'être attelés et de partir en excursion à traîneau , 2 malamuths démontrent leur plaisir.
In waiting to be harnessed and go sledding excursion, 2 malamuths show so much excitement.
Sometimes the Sideshow is the best.
Yesterday afternoon I went for a short hike from Kastelruth to the St. Valentines Chapel and tried to get some nice scenes with the Schlern as a background.
Sun and clouds were making things a bit challenging and at some point I looked to the west, down the valleys and quickly snapped my favorite photo of the day...
(The church in the center is the Pfarrei Unterinn)

Hé oui, hier 13 février, j’ai vu près du sentier de la rivière ce traineau
avec ces Rennes abandonné par le père Noël.
Ma sœur nous a photographié dans ce traineau…
