I think I might have bought too many books📚📚📚 from the second hand store. There was just too much pressure to make a decision, so I got them all!
Being a successful student💫 also means you need to be able to keep calm and perform under pressure. Particularly in written📝 and oral️exams, in which there’s a time limit⏳, is this skill important.
This tends to come with practice: the more you do it, the better you get. But you can also help yourself by making sure you’re well-prepared for exams and leaving yourself enough time to get ready before you have to do it. You got this!💪

You’ve noticed that my recent posts have all been about effectively managing your time️. One really important part of time management is making sure you give yourself breaks🎉 - days off, holidays, the chance to do fun activities💥. So one thing you could do with this voucher is use part of it to get yourself something nice for your day off (although we obviously recommend you use it for books and study materials!🔬🔭📑📚) It’s critical that you also plan short breaks throughout the day, days off on weekends and during the holidays, and time to go and get away from it all. Working all the time will just make you burn out and leave you demotivated, so make sure to leave time for friends, family👨👩👦👦👨👩👧👧 and hobbies🎣⚽. (By the way, this beautiful building🎆 is called the Twilight Epiphany Skyspace and was designed by @jamesturell. It’s located right near by @riceuniversity which I’ve been checking out!) Maybe you’ve noticed that I’m always shooting around on my skateboard, and maybe you’ve even wondered why.
Well, it’s faster, and I don’t like being late😤 to things!
It’s important to be on time to classes and to listen 👂attentively while you’re there. It’s polite, not only for your lecturer but also for the other students around you, and you’ll learn good time management🕛, which is, of course, essential when you start a new job.
But make sure you get enough sleep! This might mean going to bed a little earlier to make sure you wake up on time or, as in my case, finding a secondary mode of transportation. And maybe consider buying a helmet…

Recently, I talked about how buying a physical planner and filling it out with all the important dates is a great way to stay organised during the semester. ⏰
But in this day and age, most of us have a phone📱 or computer💻 with us a lot of the time, like me at the modern and well equipped Radboud University @radboudnsm. You can also use this technology to keep yourself organised by using an electronic calendar📆. The one that’s on your smartphone as standard will do, but there are also plenty you can find online which are made more specifically for organisation.
Most of the time you can set yourself reminders for important dates and even share these calendars with other people, which can be very useful for organising group projects, something you’ll definitely have to do while at university. The modern world, eh?!😎

A museum of letters 🔤?
Well, this post’s theme is about writing 📃essays and exams. It can be super stressful when exam and essay season comes around, but you can make the experience easier on yourself by preparing in plenty of time. 🕜🕐🕑
Give yourself enough time to prepare - how long this is is up to you, but at least a few weeks or a month 📆 is usually a good starting point - and you’ll learn more and feel less stressed than if you leave everything to the last minute😇. Of course, the romantic 🌹idea of university is leaving everything to the last minute ⏰, but don’t fit the student stereotype!
Now, where did I leave my ‘R’…🤔

Wondering what I am doing with all these mice?
With the start of uni semester looming, it’s perfect time to get preparing. It’s nerve-racking I know. Remember I‘ve been there too!
There is one thing though I slightly regret not doing at bachelor’s, which I would recommend to you guys, is doing some extra-curricular stuff to boost your CV while you are studying. If possible – it’s no walk in the park - this will give you a huge head start once you eventually graduate and enter the dreaded world of work! 💼
Media and tech, is one area that you could look into, if, of course, you’re that way inclined! With students' union television societies, music clubs and newspapers abounding on campus, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to get a glimpse at how these industries really work, just on a slightly smaller scale. You could get involved in: editing videos 🎥, producing audio 🎧, or maybe even writing for a university paper 📰. Any of these would be an invaluable experience and probably loads of fun too!
For you guys and girls starting this semester what are you plans? Which societies and activities are you planning on getting involved with?
I’m here at @uantwerpen working on my flexibility with a bit of yoga - although I’m not sure I’m actually allowed to be on this grass… 😅
Speaking of flexibility, you should think about how the skills you learn at university are flexible♂️, or rather transferable, to other roles. It’s not just about grades (although they are obviously important). 😉
You should consider what job you’re planning on doing in the future, and which skills you need to learn to get there, whether that’s programming💻, presenting👨🏫👩🏫, writing well📃, etc. But remember to take some time to relax♀️♂️ - by, for example, doing some yoga! Back to it.

Drinking coffee at @radboudnsm, you can probably recognize it from this fancy cup.
Here, at Radboud campus, you can grab your daily dose of caffeine in almost every building. The most popular place is through the main university cafeteria Cultuurcafé where you can enjoy an excellent espresso, cappuccino or iced coffee on the beautiful terrace.

Staying up to date on politics is important in our volatile 💣world, and perhaps more so for economics students than any other.
Economics is intricately connected to politics, international relations, and sociology, so (although I’m not an economics student) I always try to stay up to date on what’s going on👨💻👩💻.
Sometimes this is harder than it sounds: there are so many different news websites💻, newspapers️ and magazines, it can be hard to know which the best sources of information are. Try and find one you trust and find easy to understand - sometimes, national news sources📺 like the BBC are best for this, but to get analyses and opinions, you’ll often have to go to politically inclined sources. Shop around and make sure you stay up to date with all the recent happenings!😉

Whoever made this wall is not the most organised person in the world😅. There’s a much better way to keep yourself on track during your studies: get yourself a planner📒 at the beginning of the semester. Then you can keep all your class times, deadlines, and assignments in one place and never get lost. A good way to start filling it out is to pick out all the key dates of each of your modules at the beginning of the semester and write them all into your calendar📆. This will give you time to plan for assignments and revise for exams. Get organised!️💣

Just spent a fabulous day in the Austrian National Library. Honestly, any book nerds out there will adore this place it’s literally heaven. Not only is the architecture absolutely gorgeous, its got over 12 millions items. Enough to keep even me occupied! At closing time they had to drag me out! 😂#bookloversday #studypunk
I’m in the Christmas spirit at the @futuriumd thinking about how to plan for the upcoming year ahead💥:
✨ Look over the previous year and consider how it went, what could have gone better, and also what went well.
✨Brainstorm your desires and goals for the coming year
✨Select the goals you want to hit and pick out an overall theme for your year.
✨Write your goals out on paper and put them somewhere you can easily see them.
✨ Consider what you’ll need to achieve your goals - help, or a routine change, or something else?
✨ Work on your daily routine so it’s more in line with what you want to achieve.
Remember that while goals are important, not reaching them doesn’t make you a failure, and it’s also essential you don’t put too much pressure on yourself. It’s okay to relax sometimes and not have to worry about the future!😉

I’m here at @unijena checking out some awesome ancient statues. If you want to be an excellent student, it’s important you don’t only do your university work (although you have to do that too!📖). You need to be intellectually curious in general!🤔
Aside from going to museums, a great way to maintain your curiosity about other subjects is by asking people about the stuff they’re good at or interested in, especially if they’re experts in the subject. Talking to people who are passionate about their subject also rubs off on you - their passion will inspire you too. And if you can’t find an expert, remember the world’s knowledge is at your fingertips on your smartphone.📱

his is a great idea – a book crossing on the beach! It saves you having to lug your own around when you’re off to the seaside for a well-deserved break. Just have a rummage around and pick one that takes your fancy. Just make sure you put it back afterwards – and try not to cover it in sand.

It’s December, and you know what that means: Christmas is just round the corner!🎄 I’m skating through the metro of @unibogazici to get some gifts for my pals. Christmas can be a really expensive time💰, but there’s one perk of being a student that can help you out - student discount! Your student 🆔 can help you pick up discounts at loads of different stores and restaurants, meaning you’ve got a lot of choice of what you can offer your loved ones this holiday season. A good way of making sure you don’t break the bank is by planning your budget out and making a list📃 of all the places you can get student discounts, matching the place to the relevant person you want to get a present for. 🎁
Generally, student discount offers 10 to 20% off✨, not something to be sniffed at. But don’t get carried away - keep track of your spending so you still have enough to buy dinner the rest of the month!💥 Photo: @rota360

The view up here’s great! 🌈
One really good 😊thing you can do to 🚀improve your CV and get some experience while studying can be doing an #internship. You might have to complete one as part of your degree, or you might decide it’s something that could be helpful, perhaps after you’ve 👨🎓👩🎓graduated. These can get your foot in the door to a full-time job; see them as a stepping-stone.
Make sure you get hunting ⏰early, though - sometimes internships are filled six months before they start, so the sooner you start looking, the better!⏳
