首屆文憑試大學聯招結果已塵埃落定，部份考生因選科策略傾向保守，即使考獲第四及第五級成績，結果未能入讀本地資助大學，成為新制下的白老鼠。考生直指八大院校無統一的計分方法和比重，無法估計院校各學系的收生情況，令學生難以推算自己的「位置」，以便聯招改選。
有考獲兩科5級、兩科4級及三科3級的考生，本以為可憑此成績入讀心儀大學，他在首三志願分別選報科大、城大及浸大理學院，雖然此並非競爭最激烈的課程，但最終考生不獲任何大學取錄，最後同學唯有報讀高級文憑課程。
以首屆文憑試聯招門檻為例，香港大學、中文大學及科技大學的平均收生水平均達五科5級，其他院校的收生要求亦遠高於「3、3、2、2」基本要求，令不少考獲中游成績的學生大失所望，甚至有學生考獲「5、5、4、4」亦未獲大學錄取。反觀舊制高考，學生考獲中等成績也有機會入讀大學，而文憑試中游考生入讀本地大學難度相應提高。
與此同時，仍有家長擔心文憑試認受性不足，希望子女儘早到海外升學。他們均詫異通識科竟有逾9成考生合格，質疑不少考生根本未達合格要求，影響大學收生公平性。
「aec教育顧問」將於十月邀請多間英澳院校代表親臨本中心作即場招生及優先取錄，學生應抓緊最後機會，儘快落實海外升學計劃！

第二屆中學文憑試轉眼結束，雖然教育局已對新高中課程作出檢討，但部份科目的校本評核仍未取消，學生功課量大，導致本屆考生退修率嚴峻，數字反映新高中課程未能配合學生程度，同時亦反映部份學生選科策略出錯。
若未能獲本地大學取錄，家長及考生應否值得報讀副學士或重讀文憑試？據教資會調查顯示，現時社會大眾仍未接受副學士為獨立學歷，只被視為通往學士學位的踏腳石。
其實新學制均可銜接至英澳紐學制，英澳紐一向是港人首選，其優良的教學質素，多元化的課程，均切合不同學生的能力和需要。海外畢業生一向擁有可觀的前景，不少顧主認為英澳紐畢業生，在國際視野、難題處理以至社交技巧方面都較有優勢。
而部份中五學生家長更提早安排子女於完成中五後便到英澳紐升學，因學生只需順利修畢一年的大學基礎課程，便可直接銜接大學。由於英國、澳洲及紐西蘭大學一般課程仍採用三年制，若一切順利，學生還會比其同屆同學先完成文憑試再讀四年大學更為快捷!
『aec教育顧問』將於6月1日舉行「英澳紐專上教育博覽」，詳盡講解課程內容、入學資格、住宿安排和出發前、後準備，更設有多場講座及即場面試，為中四至中七、副學士及高級文憑同學做好海外升學準備。

家長對文憑試信心下挫，海外升學人數持續上升
新高中學制自推行以來，課程的內容範疇及評核準則均引來社會各界的强烈爭議。不斷的教育改革與衝擊，讓學生感到無所適從。據課程發展處舉辦的「新高中課程及評估學校意見調查簡介會」，校長反映他們在學校前線，親身看到當前各種教育問題，深深感受到學生和教師的壓力和需要。不少家長亦反映中學文憑試的評分標準模糊不清，即使兩三屆後，他們仍然對本地學制欠缺信心。
有見及此，不少家長都積極地為子女安排更合適的升學途徑，而海外升學更是熱門選擇之一。據「2012年中文大學校友評議會調查」顯示，五成六受訪者擬安排子女留學或就讀國際學校，而「跳船」以避過新高中學制的學生人數，比○九年的同類調查上升一成七，反映有意到海外升學的學生人數持續上升。課程全面及良好的學習環境是選擇到海外升學的重要因素之一，除了可促進學生運用英語能力外，亦可開拓視野及建立廣闊的人際網絡。青協督導主任鄧良順表示，不少本地學生在求學時仍未摸清自己的興趣和能力，以及適合那類型工作，原因是欠缺視野和人際網絡狹窄。海外教育著重全人發展，透過多元化的課外活動，有助學生確定對未來的職志意向，為前途鋪路。各海外院校現正進行招生，家長可攜帶子女過往兩年成績正本親臨「英、澳、紐中學聯合招生展 2013」，屆時院校代表將為學生進行即場面試及取錄。
