British Ambassador Sir Peter Westmacott hosted a reception for over a hundred British university alumni, including Marshall, Rhodes, Mitchell, Fullbright and Gates Cambridge Scholars, living in the United States Monday night. The reception held at the ambassador’s residence celebrated the unique educational exchange between the United Kingdom and the United States. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, a Marshall Scholar himself, spoke about his experience in the UK and expressed his gratitude to the UK government for a marvellous educational opportunity.

International students from South East Asia, The Middle East and Africa were invited to join staff from the International Office for an evening of fun and games at 1st Bowl Nottingham. This not only gave students an opportunity to relax after their exams and make some new friends, but most importantly compete for some highly coveted awards! Thanks for coming everyone!

The 2012 class of Marshall Scholars, emerging leaders from across the United States selected for the prestigious scholarship program, left for the UK this week following a three-day send-off in Washington, DC. The 37 students selected this year will pursue graduate degrees at top UK academic and research institutions in a variety of academic fields.
In Washington, the new class of Scholars met with former scholars as well as leaders from NASA and the US State Department. Also featured in the programme were tours of Congress, the State Department, and the Smithsonian Museum of American History and British Ambassador Sir Peter Westmacott welcomed the class to Washington at a reception at the Ambassador’s Residence.
