These little roof bosses are all over the roof of the Norwich Cathedral. They're supposed to depict the Bible from Adam and Eve to Judgement day. According to one postcard I read, they're a "medieval strip-cartoon."

The view from the front door of the Derwentwater hostel overlooks the "football pitch" (or soccer field) and out to the lake and famous hills beyond (including the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike).
