Studies of the site were done through creating forms with wire mesh. They had to relate to the creation of space or absence of.
This model encases the space create by the pressure of the two trees.

I specifically selected this image of Chicago as it fits the mood, and will be easy to manipulate to create "New Chicago", in which many of the downtown buildings will be replaced with new, "Star Trek-ish" ones. It's also royalty free :)
The ship in the foreground is the "Lucky Duck", the personal craft of one of the story's main characters, Mirya Salazaar. It's a very rough study model that I will rebuild in more detail.
It's been on our radar for a while, but it only opens to the public a few times each year, so we only managed a visit now.
