I had the pleasure of working with singer Vanessa Simmons in my home studio. We did a number of different types of shots and lighting setups. One thing we tried to do was to get some some shots of her singing, in a way that captured her fierce passion, but did not come across as cliche. I hope it worked.

You should check out Vanessa's video demo here -- she really has quite a voice!

Strobist info: Menik SW-400 through 21 inch beauty dish high camera left, fired with Cowboy Studio radio trigger. The spill from the beauty dish created a nice pattern on the gray muslin backdrop.

Photo of myself in my home studio by Ben Scott-Brandt who stopped by recently with his girlfriend Lisa and our mutual friend Ryan Hammer. Ben is working on a new album which I'm sure will be great. In the meantime you can hear his wonderful music (on Spotify and other streaming services) at both Ben Scott-Brandt and Ribbons of Song.

i've had a few crazy months moving home & studio. Finally settling in...and loving my new happy place! :)

Tonight my sweet husband came home and put my pegboard up for me! I made a little paper bunting for above and did some organizing and decorating to make it look sooooo super cute!

Studio Session

"Meaning of Difference"

Apart from being wonderfully photogenic, Peter's a pastry chef. He's an Australian of Portuguese-Malaysian background. It was just one of those sessions where everything seemed to work. I love how calm/strong/composed he looks, which was how Peter came across in person. Picture taken at my studio in Footscray.

The chair in my studio is perhaps the most important piece of furniture. It has a history way back to my childhood...it's been reupholstered many times but is now worn and stained...and bestof all it holds memories of my mom. This was her chair where she knitted, crocheted, wrote letters, paid the bills, and watched television. I love that it is a part of my day, every day, to have this bit of my mom with me. #daisyyellowart#mystudio
