According to Stanley our wall is a jumbled mess consisting mostly of live wires and foot-wide studs with miniature patches of isolated drywall sprinkled about. Drilling into it proved Stanley wrong.
Another January weekend (21st & 22nd), with windy but otherwise very pleasant weather enabled me to make more progress than I expected. I have been able to complete the stud framing for the walls in 3 x 2 soft wood, using stainless screws to secure to the oak . The oak frame has not been designed to take wind loading so this has been incorporated in the stud work with four of the panels fully cross braced. I have used a further oak post and jointed into the sole and wall plates to frame the side door.
