I was struggling to get any decent pictures of the Silver-Studded Blue during this particular evening on the heathland near Ipley in the New Forest. There was a fairly strong breeze blowing, which, given the fading light, was making things a little tricky. I was just about to give up when I noticed this female had, for some reason, flown or climbed on to my camera bag, which I'd left on the ground beside me. Being close to sunset by this point it must have been too cold for this butterfly to fly as, from the bag, it wasn't too difficult to coax it on to my thumb.
These are fairly small butterflies in comparison with many other species but until I'd taken this picture I don't think I'd fully appreciated just how small these insects actually are!

I wanted Gems to Jewels studs to put in my second ear holes and to match the bracelet and earrings I was wearing to church today, so I made these this morning using 20gauge head pins (I don't have the extra large headpins offered by G2J, and I think 20gauge is the size that the typical earring is).
These are just obsidian bicones threaded onto the head pin and held in place with secure crimps. After the crimps, I used the width of the middle of the chain nose plyers plus the width of the flat nose plyers, then cut the rest of the head pin off.
I use the clear rubber stoppers every time I wear french wire earrings, otherwise I loose them right out of my ears, so I have a bunch of them in my jewelry box.
Anyway, I think this would be an easy, inexpensive add-on for customers who have multiple ear holes.

These could also be made with wheels or rondelles - but I would personally max out at about 5x8mm, which means these could be made for anywhere from $2.60 to $4.20 (or higher is you tap into the carat collection)
